Someone I know (from an in-law) seems to be a walking, talking lucky duck. He can go buy a scratcher ticket for a dollar and come out with 5 dollars. He goes to the casino with 100. dollars and goes home with 1200.00. You get the picture. Anyhow, I am curious to see how you guys feel about luck - or perhaps the lack thereof. Maybe you feel... by cowboyup

Not including siblings, other relatives or spouses. I could otherwise say my brother is mine but can't think of anyone I would consider as a best friend. Likewise, I don't think anyone considers me as theirs. When I was in my 20's I had a group who I hung out with fairly regularly. Back then, I could have made the argument that I considered... by theoutsider

Chris Cornell passed away a couple of days ago at only age 52. I found serenity in his beautiful music growing up. by Miserum

Okay, well this is kind of a personal topic for me to talk about... although I can pretty much expect what everyone's answers will be to this question. So my brother has a brother (whom I get the feeling that he likes me because I've been told that he sometimes stares at me.) I think his brother is about the same age as me, if not slightly older.... by FriendlyShadow

My sister is an AmeriCorps volunteer (paid volunteer) and her contract ends in June. She's looking for work but she's looking for a 'career building' position. I get that-I understand. Her husband says not to apply for any job that is not 'career building.' We were at a grocery store the other day and my sis asked if they are hiring. She said... by cowboyup

So, if any of you are familiar with my situation, getting a job is a big...a HUGE step!! To recap: I was a live-in nanny for my brother and SIL for about 8 years and then my brother divorced and remarried. I stayed with SIL and the kids to help her. Well, things got so messed up that I ended up doing everything for her - admittedly I 'trained'... by cowboyup

Sometimes I get so down... that damn black dog just appears out of nowhere and starts following me. I've tried to just kick it in the guts but when it's there... it's there. Wallowing in it.. getting down on my knees and absorbing it seems to sometimes make it over and done with quicker. So to help me do that, I like to 'feel it' through... by PugofCrydee

Ok so, since the 21th century is all about showing off that we're the coolest person in the world on social media, people keep writing books and blogs about new lifestyles allowing us to "let go of our ego" and "be our true self" in order to be happier (books and blogs which, by the way, often end up being more about the author talking about... by Pacific_Loner

This is something I haven't brought up to anyone in a long time... though it may be due to how I feel about myself. Sometimes whenever I listen to a certain song by a band, I tend to get overwhelmed by my emotions the more I listen to it. For some reason, there are some songs that are able to trigger my emotions, even if they aren't meant to... by FriendlyShadow

My mornings are always the same, they are soul crushingly painful. When I wake up, I am greeted by fear, anxiety, depression, and a strong urge to want to kill myself. I have tried many routines over the years to change this but I just can't get out of this jam. About 2 hours after I have woken up, some of those emotions decrease by a very... by defiance

Hi. My hubby has been ranting about the high cost of energy in his office. He asked for my help to look for ways on how they could save. I guess I've already told him everything, like turning off lights that are not used, unplug all unused appliances etc. What else should they do? How could they monitor their usage? Suggestions? by brightordinary

I fell in love with this book years ago, the whole series in fact. It introduced me to characters I got to know and cared for, I found a world I lived and immersed myself in. I came across this free online edition and thought I'd put it in a thread for anyone who might care to read it. If you do, I hope you enjoy it as much as I did/still do. And... by PugofCrydee

I'm wanting to find some new computer games to play (pc or tablet). What i would ideally want is something that provides similar constant "stimulus" as the game tetris (which i'm kind of a bit sick of, as that's the only game i play); but i like the pacifying/mind-numbing quality of the game. I've tried to find games on the tablet, but almost none... by theslowesthand

Hello Peeps, It has been a while since my last post on this forum, I hope everyone is doing well and better. I am flying to Berlin tomorrow afternoon, and quite frankly except some few monuments and dishes that I intend to try out, I have no idea what to do, especially in a country known for its beers, pork sausages and pornographic movies... by Jungle

'Have a good evening' is what my neighbour says to me if we happen to meet during our walks. But the thing is, i almost never have a good evening (or day for that matter). So that comment seems wasted on me. It might even help some people to have a better evening, but it doesn't work for me. At best, my evening/night is "bearable". If i ever was... by theslowesthand
