Hi, I was wondering if anyone living in the Greater Toronto Area finished Dr. Richard's Audio Program titled Overcoming Social Anxiety, or has progressed in the cognitive portion of therapy and is ready to practice some behavioral group exercises in a safe environment (i.e. rented out library or hotel room). Its fine if you feel anxious, I'm... by JohnnyT

When I was five years old or maybe less, my mother, as punishment, sometimes told me that she "hates me". I remember one time, she hit me, or threatened to hit me, with a shoe or sandal. She was a piano teacher, and she would sometimes take the time to teach me piano. I was REALLY nervous in front of her. Whenever I did something wrong several... by Setsuna

This is a really touchy subject... I always had OCD. When I was in grade 5, I was obsessed with fictional characters. My compulsion was to act like those fictional characters, because otherwise, I would be "inadequate". This kind of screwed up my social interactions with others, and ruined my family life. I was always oversensitive as a kid.... by Setsuna

I'm not an expert writer or anything...but I just thought, for myself, that I would write a short story detailing how I was an oversensitive kid with special needs that were NOT addressed by my family. They just treated me like any "normal" kid. So here it goes: I didn't do it for attention. I SWEAR I didn't do it for attention. I thought he... by Setsuna

I never had a good relationship with my brother. And by that, I mean that I REALLY didn't have a good relationship with my brother. I was an oversensitive, whiny crybaby when I was younger. I was introverted. My brother was an extroverted, leadership-oriented person. This didn't mesh well. Ultimately, I found myself wishing that he would die. Our... by saa

So, I am working in the field I would like a career in. Thus far, I am an entry-level employee, but at least I have my foot in the door, and I hope to advance after I finish school. I have not told anyone at this job that I want to continue there as a career because I feel like I have no idea what I'm doing...I am not very familiar with some... by lilmutegirl

I was just wondering how people knew they had Social Anxiety. I tried talking to a therapist who didn't know what it was. And when I go on therapists profiles and look through what they treat... sa or agoraphobia isn't part of it. Is social anxiety just anxiety disorder or depression? by akala

I do. I tend to re-play things over and over. Most recently, at work, we had a manager from another store in to visit, which wouldn't have been that big of a deal (I felt remarkably comfortable with her there), except that one of our employees said something stupid in front of her (she admitted to not doing part of her job). I texted the assistant... by lilmutegirl

I decided to attend a social convention called watching a movie. Not going to date or anything (never been to one), I just want to watch a movie. I've never been to a cinema before. I just don't know what to do when I do I arrive in a cinema. I would need a step by step instructions. That's all, have a good day. And if you live in Edmonton,... by JoeyAndres

Hi I'm a new member, I'd like to tell you about myself. As a child I was pretty quiet, but I always managed to make some friends, but around age 11 I became extremely shy, completely afraid of people in highschool I had no friends, I didn't do homework many times because I couldn't ask for help. I ended up skipping classes alot, I barely... by Poetic_Wallflower

Have dealt with social anxiety/panic disorder/agoraphobia most of my life. Am at a point where I'm able to lead a fairly 'normal' life, able to get out to get my shopping, doctor and dentist appts. and so on. As long I'm not too far away from home or am gone too long I'm okay. Parties and social gatherings are quite hard for me but I am getting... by littlesnowflake
