rude customers

Okay so i work at a grocery store for now x.x anyway this guy comes up to me and asks for something. I say it's over there because that's where I think it is. He's like here here HERE? Loudly. I go over to him and he looks at the items and I thought that's what he wanted. He didn't specifically say the brand of this product so I showed him where one of the products is. It's in 3 different places for different brands by the way. He comes over to me and yells this is NOT what i wanted and i pretty much just give up on being nice because he was being rude. He comes back and again says YOU DON'T KNOW WHAT YOU'RE TALKING ABOUT!!!! I just smirk and look away. I probably should have asked what brand and thought of it but after that I just couldn't try to fix the problem. I know this was an immature way to handle this but it's hard to help someone who's being rude. That's all. It's been bothering me :/ >.>

Gosh, some people can be so rude. In your case, "the customer is always right" so I guess there's not much you can do about it.

You know, if this idiot had taken approximately 5 seconds to explain to you what he wanted before flying off the atmosphere, there would've been no issue. Instead he decided to treat you like a piece of crap for attempting to help.

Rude customers are everywhere. I have seen so many. For ages now I have made it a point to be rude to employees, especially those working in fast-food restaurants, as customers seem to have these poor, underpaid girls in their targets. Even if I'm depressed as hell, I try to smile and make them feel comfortable and if a problem does arise, I'm not going to start screaming at them. They get thrown a lot of crap - might as well make it relaxing for one minute of their day.

Crab, your job is just as bad when you have to deal with those types of people. It's terrible.

yeah i have to deal with rude customers everyday where i work as a cashier.
i almost quit on the spot one day cause a customer was so rude to me and started calling me an idiot saying i shouldnt even be on register (it was only my second week, i didnt know every single thing about what to do in every single situation).
some people are so rude and think they're the center of the universe.. they seem to think that just cause they're the customer means they can treat employees like crap.

like today i had just finished running someone's check through the register when she asked me if i got her soda (on the bottom of her cart that i couldnt see). i said no and she flipped out cause, oh horror, she had to write another check. and she continued to grumble about how i should pay more attention and how mad she was that she had to use another check.

i hate people

That's such a load of crap. All too often the customer is rude, cheap, ignorant, too lazy to read signing, trying to scam you or dead wrong. It's relieving every now and then when you actually get someone who's appreciative.

That's her fault for not picking it up or telling you it was there. If she forgot, then it's her problem she's gotta write another check. For the last while, at my store they made a point of getting cashiers to ask if that's everything from their cart, and to actually look. It is easy to miss stuff sometimes. Half the time they've got their jackets thrown in the cart, or there's piles of bags from other stores and it's hard to tell what's what. Sometimes you can ask if that's everything, and they'll say yeah, and then it turns out there is something else after all.

Law of the Garbage Truck

One day I hopped in a taxi and we took off for the airport. We were driving in the right lane when suddenly a black car jumped out of a parking space right in front of us.

My taxi driver slammed on his brakes, skidded, and missed the other car by just inches! The driver of the other car whipped his head around and started yelling at us. My taxi driver just smiled and waved at the guy. He was really friendly and smiling.

So I asked, 'Why did you just do that? This guy almost ruined your car and sent us to the hospital!'

He explained that many people are like garbage trucks. They run around full of garbage, full of frustration, full of anger, and full of disappointment.
As their garbage piles up, they need a place to dump it and sometimes they'll dump it on you. Don't take it personally.

Just smile, wave, wish them well, and move on. Don't take their garbage and spread it to other people at work, at home, or on the streets. Successful people do not let garbage trucks take over their day.

Love the people who treat you right. Pray for the ones who don't. Life is ten percent what you make it and ninety percent how you take it!

Pray to Lord for garbage-free day!

Boo-hoo to her. She should've not obscured the soda.

Whoops, yes, I mean not be rude!

It doesn't matter where I am, I try to be courteous to the employee serving me. I had to get my iPhone replaced, so marching in there and yelling at them and demanding a new phone will get me absolutely nowhere. Same if I'm ordering food. The way I see it: they don't want to have to deal with me, and I don't want it to take forever, so if I just co-operate for one minute while they do the work for me, I'll be out of there quicker and happier. If a problem does arise, discuss it properly.

This is merely just common courtesy, not an employee-customer relationship!

geez, hasn't she heard of credit cards?
What is this technology?! Soon you'll be telling me I can buy stuff without even leaving my computer!

Oh. Oooohhhhhhhh.

Gah! It's just...this is one issue of society that really irks me. I dislike rude customers. I've been to restaurants with people and they've been really rude to the waitress, while I have felt like hiding. It just doesn't make sense. We're all human. Just because we're being served by someone doesn't mean they're lesser than us.

I would love to list all the really, really helpful employees I've encountered in my time, too. Too many to name. Just yesterday a guy at the petrol station thanked me a hundred times for waiting for just one minute. Kindness gets you respect!

Of course, there's been a couple of rude employees, too, but rude customers outweigh it by a long shot.

I worked in customer service for over 3 years, and I learned to hate customers. I don't know how I didn't get fired... I was rude to them on a daily basis.

It only gets worse when you work in fast food, especially at McDonalds, I really hated myself when I worked there, everyone treats you like **** there, even the scumbags you work with, my coworkers constantly made fun of me and were always hostile. Heh, can't find any work now, not even fast food.

I absolutely relate to this from when i worked retail.

Honestly, whenever someone would act like a child id treat them like one. I dont care if its the right way to respond or not. Id simply tell the customer to use their "indoor voice". Or id plain give it right back to them the way they dish it out. It would embarass the hell out of them when suddenly everybodys staring at us. That would take the wind out of their sails a bit.

Sure it landed me in a trouble a few times. And i accepted the writeups and as a comment id always put that we dont get paid enough to put up with abusive customers like that. And id stand by it. I still do.

On the other side of the counter now, if some douchebag ahead of me treats someone like that i do my best to be extra nice and patient with that sales person, because theyre ppl too. And theyre just trying to make a buck....and they dont make that many bucks. try to make up for others shortcomings i guess.

Where were you when I was stuck working McDonalds? I just looked at my old W-2 from McDonalds and I only made just barely over $1000 my entire time there.

I like this analogy. The taxi driver reminds me of my dad - he's almost always positive, smiling at people even though some people talk behind his back. In fact, we had a little talk about this last night. He told me he used to be hot-headed when people mistreat him, but now all he cares about is doing his job right and getting home the paycheck.

Hats off to your dad...it's so much easier said than done.

I once worked at a restaurant that was connected to a truck stop. I was a buffet attendant and one day I was working the line slicing ham for the people going through and we were out of ham which was bad since it was fairly early in the day. My manager told me to slice it paper thin which is not a good idea when faced with hungry truck drivers. One person grabbed the big fork we use to hold down the ham while we sliced it and nearly stabbed me through my had and ran away with the ham.
