rude customers

I've worked at McDonalds for 3 years. At a hotel for a summer. American Eagle for a year. Abercrombie for 6 months. I currently work at Cabelas and Subway. I've worked retail and food service jobs most of high school to now (about 5 years).

Ironically, though, no one has ever taken personal shots at me or freaked out on me. Just a lot of people who "forget" to say please/thank you or acknowledge that you exist when ordering food.

However, a customer who is directly mad at me for a mistake gets one of two reactions:

1. I had nothing to do with the mistake, it's not my fault so stop being mad at me.

2. My mistake, mistakes happen. Sorry.

After working all of these jobs I have developed a, "you have mistaken me for someone who cares" attitude. But at the same time I will be extremely nice and bend over backwards for a nice and understanding person.

I don't let people effect me, especially customers.

Besides, if you have a situation like the the lady that had to write two checks (mentioned above)...I just look at like, "damn what a bitch, I'm glad I inconvinced her" lol..

I worked at a resturant and I also have not had personal shots thrown at me although I almost was stabbed in the hand by a hungry truck driver. I posted about that. but I have seen it happen to others where I worked but mainly one of the managers who was a real A** to everyone. A customer even pulled him over the counter once. After a while He was transferd out but we got another mamager that was almost as bad. Most of the people ended up quiting including me. On a side note my mom loves Cabelas

At the surgery practice that I manage I have to deal with rude, inconsiderate, boundaryless people every day.

The ONLY way I get through it is to remind myself that I have no idea what kind of day they're having that would make them act like this.Regardless of their bad day, they shouldn't treat people poorly but it does honestly help to try to think about what they may be going through in their life.I try to think of it as,if they've had a horrible day up to the point of seeing me,I can be super nice and be the highlight of their day.

^^^ Working in the medical field myself, I can totally relate! And it's not just the patients who can be royal PITAs!
