I'm pretty sure my family thinks I'm gay.
I've suspected this for a really long time but for some reason lately it seems like they're trying to get it out of me and hint at the fact that they disapprove of homosexuality(Which is entirely unnecessary since they've never shown themselves to be anything other than giant homophobes. All of them.)

I'm not...but I honestly don't really care to dispel their suspicions.
They can believe what they want to believe.

Sorry you are going through this :(

Fatbutt: I want to go outside.
Me: Okay, here you go: open door.
Fatbutt: Not that door. The other one.
Me: But they both go to the same place--outside.
Fatbutt: That door. That one. There.
Me: But...
Fatbutt: Well? Why isn't it open yet?
Me: FINE! I'll open it already. Jeez.

Slinky: I know that for the past 14 years, I've never wanted to use your right hand or arm as a headrest while you're trying to use your computer and move that "mouse" around, but for the past few months I've been seeing another cat do it so now I'm going to do it too. All the time.

Me: Stop that.
Me: Oh, come on.
Me: Really?
Me: Move! You're screwing up everything I'm trying to do.
Me: Ugh. Fine. Just...fine. Fine.

Slinky: You keep moving your arm around. STOP THAT.

:eek:mg:

LOL thanks for entertaining me

I went through something similar. I never had a real girlfriend (I had something close when I was about 15 but my parents never knew about it). My sister started saying stuff at dinners like "... a girlfriend, or boyfriend if you're into that. It's ok, we don't judge here. As long as you're happy". So every time the word girlfriend or boyfriend popped up, she'd say that. Then my parents started doing it as well. It was pretty annoying, but I wasn't going to get a girlfriend just to prove them wrong. Eventually I stopped caring what they thought or said about it, as long as they didn't try to set me up with another dude.

It only stopped because dinners are now just me and my mum most of the time, and we don't talk about relationships. It's always my sister that brings up those topics.

Quite a similar thing happened to me.

My CD buying habit is getting worse. I can't even keep up with it. There are some that I've never even had the chance to listen to.
I do try to rip them all to mp3 as soon as I get them so I can listen to them on the phone/tablet/computer/car as well as actually sit between the speakers and listen to them properly on the "good" system.
It's such a thrill to go through bins or shelves of CDs in a store and come across something out of print and rare, or an import, or to find a whole collection of good CDs for cheap and leave with a big stack.
I know Mikey will know what I'm talking about. :)

I'm going over the mistakes I've made. They have invaded my mind and I can't make it stop. The depression is worsening and I'm making the people who actually care about me sad. I wish I could turn back the clock and do it all over again.

I also had this problem from the 90s through to around 2006 or so. I spent thousands of dollars on plastic that is now 1/10th of what I paid.

I should have stuck to vinyl only... but then, I'm not sure people are even buying that anymore and I bought it all at yard sales, so I doubt it's valuable.

Some CDs/vinyl are becoming valuable now as things are going out of print. Many will never be released on physical media again. But the market is very fickle. A disc must be hopelessly out of print or have something special going for it like being an audiophile edition(MFSL, ect.)

I did the vinyl thing all through the 90s. Absolutely hated CDs. Wanted nothing to do with them. Amassed a very large collection of LPs. Then around year 2000 I got tired of all the maintenance it takes to get vinyl to sound right. All the turntable adjustments and record cleaning. I had even bought a record vacuum machine that worked well but was annoyingly loud to run.

So around the turn of the century I started buying CDs and experimenting with different CD players. In 2005 I bought a vintage CD player built around the Philips TDA1541 D/A converter and it was quite a revelation. I didn't know that CDs could sound so good. So I started buying as many CDs as I could afford. That player is now gone and I've upgraded to something better but the CD buying continues. I hit thrift stores every week, used CD stores, flea markets, yard sales, buy lots on ebay, cheap ones on Amazon.

I went on a trip this summer and came back home with 26 CDs in my suitcase.

Oh, dude. Mikey knows exactly what you're talking about. :giggle:

As a man who now has over 1,400 CD's cluttering his bedroom, it's all about obsession! You will probably get like me where you'll buy lots, then cool off for a while, then buy again, and so on. I'm usually constant with my purchases, although recently I'm on the upswing, buying lots.

There's nothing wrong with scouring places for good CD's - sometimes the chase is just as good or better than the catch. The only thing you need to remember is not to buy over your head. If you've only got $20 to last you a week, know that you'll have to wait a week before purchasing. I know it's hard because the tempt of purchasing is a mouse-click away, however just realise your limits and stick to them.

Having a good system to listen to CD's is a great way to enjoy them more, too. I envy that. :)

I'm exactly like that, Mikey. I'll buy buy buy and then cool off for a while. It goes in spurts. Lately I've been on the upswing as well. Lol.

I agree about the chase. I guess it's the modern expression of the old hunter gatherer thing.

just saw a ufo. caught sight of something through the curtains, a white light heading towards the top of the window (heading in the direction towards and overhead of me) then as it got closer it suddenly changed direction and moved faster to the north, the light from it faded and it disappeared. kind of strange. loads of times people see those chinese lanterns (which I think should be banned) this didn't behave in a way that would suggest it was though.

Not so great? Isn't it the most liberating revelation? It's a lost cause. A useless one. now you can stop worrying about making things right in the eyes of other, and do things right in your own eyes, and take as much time as you need to do so, whatever anyone can think of it.

No. not really. Because now I'm lost, I don't do things right by me either. It's just confusing

mega-home sick-rush

Ran into a face book page with all old photos of where I grew up. I have been feeling nostalgia lately for home, dreaming about it, then I find this, so weird!

Loved seeing the old haunts. Not all good memories, I went through a bad rebellious spell, but still a great thing to see the places that live in your memories again.

I'm very depressed and I think I'm having(or had) a panic attack(s). I just took 1.5mg of Xanax( a medication that I rarely if ever use), hopefully it will help.
