The only way to relieve any mental disorder is to observe the reality/truth of the pertaining situation. By facing fear, anxiety, phobia, depression, hypochondria, eye contact issue etc etc...if one is able to watch the thoughts, and the simultaneous body reaction/ sensations of uneasiness....the mind body phenomenon( some like to call it... by hardy

I have gone 9 years without a job. At first it was because I had some problems with my lungs, but slowly I have gotten a lot better. Then I just used my lung problems as an excuse not to work, but really it was my social anxiety keeping me from getting a job. Sad to say I'm just afraid to work. I never really tried to pin point what... by kuurt

Any tips or tricks that you've learned over the years that make your life (or work, relationship, etc.) helpful? I am currently working as a housekeeper in a clinic/hospital setting and it's all new to me and was observing other housekeepers who've been doing it for years and how fast and efficient they are at their job. I feel so slow. I am... by cowboyup

When did your social anxiety start? Can you pin point what started it? I'm just wondering because I watched some Youtube videos on social anxiety and some people can remember when their social anxiety started. Sometimes people even remember certain experiences that brought on their social anxiety. I do have some experiences in grade school... by kuurt

Hi All Merry Christmas. My boyfriend and I have been dating for a while. He has always told me he finds commitment scary and fears away from a serious relationship. For quite a while, I noticed when we go out or are in work. Whenever a woman walks past, he stares at their bottom. If we are in the pub, he looks over at a table and stares... by anxiousmess

I don't really have any friend right now due to social anxiety. And so I don't get out of the house very much as a result. I'm sure a lot of you can relate. If I got a girlfriend by some miracle, I wouldn't know where to take her because I never go anywhere. So she would probably find me boring which right now I probably am. But I'd like to... by kuurt

It's been a year now since I moved. I still feel resentment and anger towards those who were close to me. Sometimes I want to just be forgotten - like I never existed. That sounds horrible, I know, but it's exactly how I feel at times. We all have our good, bad and ugly days, but since I was forced to move because I was suspect number 1... by cowboyup

I just came across this and thought I would share it with you all. There's a couple for surprises in there...and a lot of what these celebrity's said really resonated with me, particularly Kim Basinger's experiences.. Hi guys. I've been attending an anxiety group - it lasts six weeks and is with six or so other people. It's mostly just being taught about coping techniques, but I have managed to get myself to speak sometimes when the group is asked things. Next week is the last week and as usual I'm leaving without knowing anyone. Well I didn't really... by aj

Hello. I am 21 and I have a huuge problem with social anxiety. I am in therapy already before someone suggests that. I can't even make friends online anymore. I constantly question others intensions and I have a lot of built up hate and frustration inside me because I never display my emotions, especially not big emotions. I have a lot... by shything

So, I am almost done with my master's degree (less than a month to go!), and I am freaking out that I will mess something up. Every time I turn in an assignment (for the past 2 years), I assume I did it wrong. I am also planning on applying for a promotion (since I will have the educational requirements soon), and am nervous about that. On top of... by lilmutegirl

Its not so easy to live in an apartment complex alone when you have social phobia. Ever since I left home many years ago I had to change places 3 times. I'm someone who can't go outside by myself very easily. I don't have any friends or a girlfriend. After a while the neighbors start noticing that other than going to work I'm always home. In some... by Phantasystar4

I've been trying this out recently. You talk to yourself 5-10 minutes at a time daily, literally about ANYTHING. By doing so you are training yourself to freely talk about whatever, and make connections to different topics more easily. This state of conversational flow can be applied to conversations with others. Example Talking to... by Miserum

So, I have many things on my plate and don't know where to start, I want some upgrade from my boring life on the farm and put my online CBT booklet to the test. I like to try volunteering, but all the places I'd like to try, like the regional wildlife trust, national park are a drive away to another town. I'd like to go travelling, I can... by milo2020
