Would you/Have you gone out to dinner by yourself?

I really really want Red Lobster right now but no one I know likes seafood and I hate trying to make conversation while I wait for the food if I did end up going with someone. Have any of you guys gone by yourself? Did you feel like people were judging you? Tell me a story. I'm tired of eating Kraft Dinner.

If you learn to cook you don't have to go out! Nothing better than fish you cook yourself. Especially if you caught it yourself. Mmmm.

God no! I find it hard enough going to dinner with family or friends. Eating on my own would make me feel a loner. The fact that you want to do this is a good sign for your SA.

I've gone out many times with my kids... but only once by myself to a restaurant where you're actually waited on. It was kind of awkward, but I took a book with me so it wouldn't seem so weird just sitting there by myself. It also seemed like the server looked at me funny, but that could have just been my imagination/paranoia.

Not a chance! But I do take a book everywhere I go, that way I always have something else to focus on if I'm out and have to wait for any reason. Having a book distracts me from thinking about what other people might be thinking AND has the added benefit of making me look busy so other people dont generally try to talk to me

Scooter, that is a really good idea. Thanks.

I've never gone out to dinner alone. I used to go eat breakfast at a small diner not far from me. I think breakfast is easier to do alone though since it doesn't seem to have the same social aspect that dinner does.

I've went to lunch by myself a tonne of times. Whenever I'm stuck in town for the day. But really, only at small coffee shops. Not any big restaurant, that would be a bit daunting. But if you want your seafood, go get your seafood!

I would love to walk around town and pop in some place to eat by myself. Whenever i do go out i see many people doing it. I can't seem to go out anywhere by myself at the moment, and if i do find myself alone for 5 minutes i have to ring someone so that i don't feel alone. Maybe i can try going out somewhere to eat alone, and ring someone on my way there and while i wait for the food. Might make that my next goal. :)

yea but mostly to fast food restaurants like mcdonalds or chipotle....i've also gone to the movies alone alot recently though going to the movies alone is easier because everyone is in the dark and cares more about the movie than the ppl around them...and i just love going to the movies

Most restarants have take out, you call ahead and go pick it up and eat it at home :)

I did once eat at Taco Bell in the food court at the mall. I was starving because I hadn't eaten since the day before & couldn't wait til I got home because I felt like I was going to pass out. I was trying not to be too embarrassed & there were a lot of other people around & no one was paying attention to me. As for actually going out to an actual restaurant by myself, I can't imagine I would ever do that. It's hard enough when I'm there with my mom (who is the only person I ever go anywhere with), so I doubt I could ever do it alone.

Id just chill at the bar, Id say 100's of people a week do it. Sitting at a table around families is definitely gunna feel weird.

depends on the restaurant. if it has an outdoor area then fine, or a booth that blocks your vision but if its at night in a busy restaurant with waiters wondering around and families everywhere, i'd probably feel a bit strange, of course this is just a perception problem...there is nothing wrong with doing it.

yeh the book idea is good and maybe even a notebook so you can write and eat. just write anything, write a diary entry or a list or anything while eating so you look occupied and perhaps have your ipod playing so at leas your not looking around the room from side to side freaking out...
