Every so often, I become interested in some political issue, but I otherwise do not care at all about politics. If I would have political views then I would probably be somewhere at the center, veering off to the left or right depending on which side I agree with the most at the time. I'm curious to see how many 'far right' votes we get. lol

To those who say they don't like politics - I don't like it too, but maybe because so many people - and it's usually the good people - don't care about it, they let the bad people win. Maybe we should push ourselves into caring at least a bit and if everyone did so, we could make some difference.

Some famous guy (don't remember his name) once said that "the punishment for intelligent people who don't take the lead, is to be lead by the stupid ones".

Well said Lea, when people sit on their hands, dictators like Stalin and Hitler gain power. If democracy does not work for you, stand up and say so! Before your right to do so vanishes

Why? They are allowed to have views too!

True, but people don't like them because (far) right people are 'said' to be racists. Some of them know how to gather power, check Geert Wilders from The Netherlands, he's famous all over the world, lol. We got Philippe De Winter, or something like that, he's less famous. ::p: He's got a huuuge nose !

it is naive to believe leftists can't be racist.

That's a very good point. Sometimes though people are so disillusioned with politics, and the ones who supposedly represent our interests, that they would defect to the other side or not vote. There is a void here in the UK for inspiring, conviction politics. Everything is about spin and 'politics', they tell you what they think you want to hear.

that's ridiculous. do you believe in all stereotypes? aren't stereotypes the basis of racism itself?

I didn't say I believe stereotypes ... Not 1. Jezus, read my post, I said: "True, but people don't like them because (far) right people are 'said' to be racists." I have no idea where you see I believe that stereotype.

I don't think he meant to stereotype. He said Right wing groups are ''said'' to be racist. He's stating a consensus he's probably come across.

Well in fact in the UK the British National Party, a white supremacist group, is very right wing conservative. I've yet to hear of a left wing racist group.

But maybe you are talking about people in general? Yes it is possible for someone with racist views to be inclined to the left. I myself, to be honest am hesitant in approaching other races, and hold a few stereotypes about them, but I am leftist.

No politics have got it right. I might have views that coincide with what political sides say they believe but that doesn't make me on their side.

Politicians have to exaggerate to get elected in the first place. To have major changes occur, one has to change the laws. The executive branch of the government is a subordinate of the laws, and the politicians are just as required to follow them as everyone else. What is the law and what isn't, is determined by the legislature.
