How do you feel about your birthday?

I started to view birthdays at a day where you number of age increases and that's it. No celebration. No excitement. What's the point?

It's nice to get FB messages from people but I don't have the day to share with anyone or go out and enjoy it. Plus every year gets depressing as I yearn to go back in time when birthdays were something I looked forward to.

I got that treatment once. Church youth group. Suddenly, this cake appears out of nowhere and they expect me to cut it for everyone. Instant performance anxiety to add to my already raging embarrassment. I'm sure they all meant well, but I wanted to crawl into a hole.

I try not to think about birthdays to much, all it is, is a reminder of the vast amount of things I have not accomplished when compared to other people I know.

I hate mine, tell no one, hope nothing happens, and I even avoid phone calls. I don't know why, but it is not the way I want to feel.

I feel mixed on this. I like the cake that my mom makes for my b-day. But my b-day reminds me of how old I am. It reminds me of how life passes by so quickly and I still haven't improved my social skills much or gotten a job.

Most of the time, I'm a bit apprehensive when my birthday is about to come up. I'm not sure if I want it to be acknowledged or not. I would not want to have a birthday party though, that I'm certain of.

I never really got to celebrate any of my birthdays because I have no family or friends so whenever my birthday comes around I just ignore it and take it like any other day

Im getting to hate it, I actually took my birth year off facebook and left the date there, from now on if I see any indication of age I take it off. Its starting to bother me some because i feel frustrated because of a lack of love life and experience.

I gave up on birthdays when I was about 25. Feeling old.

No longer a reason to celebrate that you're just still alive.

Worst was to forget a friend's birthday yesterday, who came to visit me the day before. Friends are far between around here. This one is older. I didn't go to see

Reason for gathering together used to be every binging night as students, from 1994 to 1998, and contd. to about 2005. Each New Year's Eve in completely different places... countries... in the summer

We are party people. Not watching TV or listening to pop or boy bands (eg. not a usual mainstream pay-for festival). We have serious professional kit. Vans & lorries packed for €uropean roads with generators, speaker stacks and amp rack rigs. Events are often prone to helicopter intervention in Britain, France, Spain and Czech Republic

I recommend this to any SA people as a true way to get involved and lose your anxiety and gain confidence and individualism. A healthy anti-society attitude

For me my birthday is like what new year's is like. I usually make something similar to new year's resolutions.

Since it's in the end of the summer vacations most of my friends aren't around, but I always manage to gather around enough friends to have a good time (well, it's my sister's birthday too so she brings her friends too, although most of the friends that we invite are common friends).

I've always found it to be a bit annoying when people make a big deal about their own birthday. Just seems so attention starved. Mine has always been pretty low key, but it's also on Christmas so couldn't really do much anyways :p

I don't know... I'm kind of dreading it now because each year I have to add a higher digit to my age, but my face still looks anywhere between the ages of 15 and 19 (or so I'm told).

Besides that fact, nothing exciting about getting older, in my opinion, once you're past 21.

I've grown to dislike it. people tell me to enjoy it and have fun, I know they're well meaning, but the impression it gives me is that I'm supposed to have a special day. But it goes quite average, and I don't really have any fun, which ends up making it very frustrating.

Ironically, this year's birthday I won't spend it with my family which at least will allow me to either don't be so stressed or not having to hide my sadness.

Everyone who knows me enough to know the date of my birthday, knows me enough to know that I don't want to celebrate it, and I keep it a secret from everyone else...
