Will do. I was going to rant... but I don't think anyone would want to hear it, personally. While annoying, I don't think it's worth getting pissed off about trival family issues.

"Lizzie Borden took an axe
And gave her mother 40 whacks,
When she saw what she had done
she gave her father 41."

Please don't. That is what family is for, teaching us that no matter how horrible the rest of the world is, they are worse. 😮

I went to the dementia ward where my grandmother is placed for the first time today. I was so, so, so anxious while being there that all I could really think about was my racing heart. I'm aware that everyone there is practically harmless and just going about their mindless business but I was so freaked out.

One woman came up to us (me, my brother, and my parents), pointed and smiled, and she pinched my arm. Another tried to get past us and repeatedly yelled, "nahnahnahnahnah...." until she could get through. Another guy just walked into my grandmother's room with us (luckily the nurse was there to shoo him away). Another was making horrible noises and shaking big time in the common room.

You just look at all these people and wonder what has gone wrong in their mind. Most of my brain power was used to try not to give in to anxiety and walk out the door, though. Now I have realised that if I ever want to visit my grandmother, I have to deal with all that. I'd better get used to it.
^ Yeah that is very hard to see. I remember going to the nursing home with my dad or my mom (they never both went, I don't know why) when I was little to visit my great-grandmother who had senile dementia. It was sad when she didn't even recognize her own relatives except for a select few, and I was one of them and I don't know why or how since I was only about 6-7 yrs. old. Family resemblance maybe? No idea.

Seeing other people there with those problems is really hard. That's why I never like going to nursing homes, it's so sad.

😀 Naw! It's no that bad, geez! Just fed up being condesended to by my family, especially by my oldest half sister. Wish they'd stop talking to me like I'm still 12.

People in general are getting on my nerves. I really have this urge to buy a shotgun and shoot the people that I hate. >_>

Sorry to hear about your great-grandmother. That would've been really sad to see. At least she recognised you, which is good, I think.

I don't like going to nursing homes, either, and this just reinforces that point.

Hey Dyingtolive, just hold on it will repay itself if you persevere. The most important thing is that you are trying. It is hard but in the end you´ll get skills which people who didn´t work that hard don´t have. Why do you think others don´t have to try hard? Btw I´m sure you are good at what you are doing, you told me. You´re lucky, at least not so effed up like me for example, who is left not knowing anything. It is worth it believe me.

Proud of my son. 😀

From my Child Development book:

"Asked to determine who behaved worse--Larry, who broke four dishes while helping to clear the off the table, or Howard, who broke two dishes while trying to sneak an extra cookie--most 5-year-olds will respond, 'Larry.' Because young children do not take intent into consideration when judging an action, they see Larry's actions as worse because he broke more dishes (Piaget, 1932). Children who are 8 or 9 years old begin to factor intent into the equation and say Howard's actions were worse."

I asked my 5-yr-old this exact question, and, without hesitating, he said the one who broke two was worse because he was trying to sneak a cookie, but the other one was being helpful and it was an accident. My son has the reasoning skills of someone almost twice his age!! He's a genius!! 🙂

Coincidentally, Larry and Howard happen to be the names of his only living great-grandpas.

Awesome! Sounds like he has a really high EQ, not something well appreciated in men in western cultures. So it's great to hear that he has an encouraging mommy. 🙂

I am feeling abandoned, lost, angry, and depressed. Ive been in this depressed state for weeks and I can't get out of it. I'm angry that no one in my family seems to care how sad ive been. I'm angry that this is my life and no matter how hard I try to fight the monsters in my head they just seem to get stronger and stronger.

Gaaahh! I'm pretty bored and down a bit. I decided to come out to my folks place for the night since its fathers day but I don't know why I even bothered, me and my dad aren't even on speaking terms, so it's just the three of us sitting here while me and my dad kinda glare at each other while my mom constantly talks about **** I don't want to hear just to break the awkward silence. Also, out of my boredom, I just joined some dating site, not to date, just to try and meet new people but I don't really see that happening. But it's kinda weird, all the profiles I've looked at are just people trying to get laid with inappropriate pics to show off their ass or cleavage. I dunno, it just seems odd to advertise yourself in that manner. They grumble on about how sweet they are, then BAM, there's a close up of her boobs or showing off how flexible they are, how could I befriend someone with so little self respect? Plus who would wanna talk to an ugly, unemployed pothead with no confidence?

I'm sorry you had a bad time with your parents.
Yeah, that's really shallow. I'm sorry you feel that way about yourself but I'm sure there'll be people who would love to befriend you.

I'm sorry dyingtolive, I agree with Lea. You're trying and you should give yourself credit for that. I hope things get better.
