Dear coyote, why isn't anyone asking you any serious questions?

dear Remus,

you pose an interesting question

i tasked my assistant, Hubert, with researching this phenomenon

his findings were fascinating: a number of studies indicate that the majority of internet users spend the bulk of their time online in the pursuit of something called... "fun"

what people do with this "fun", once they have found it, remains unclear

but, apparently, "fun" is an important component in the lives of a great many people

even those that suffer from personality, mood, or anxiety disorders

I asked a serious question.

Coyote,

Do you believe that the advice you give is based on a personal presumption that other people actually want to be like you? It is a question that is valid -and I ask that with respect - It is something I am curious about.

Do you think that sometimes personal anguish is based on ones view of how they see the world and that one approach is not suitable for everyone - and that a certain degree of sympathy (not agreement) is needed before they are able to feel better?

What is Hubert's star sign?

(I defy anyone to say that this is not a serious question)

dear hoddesdon,

my inquiries to the Nelson Knitting Co. regarding Hubert's date of origin were met with willful ignorance - apparently they do not maintain sufficiently accurate records to determine the manufacturing date of any particular individual

because Hubert began his employment with this office on my birthday, it seems reasonable that we may use a similar astrological profile to my own

that would make Hubert a Leo

Dear Coyote,

Is my glass half full or half empty?
I’m optimistic that you know the answer.

dear SoScared,

there is no such thing as a "half empty" glass

it's all the way full - just full of two different things

while one half of the glass is full of some proverbial liquid, the other half of the glass is full of something else

full of air, perhaps

or full of nothing

nothing is something, isn't it?

at the very least, the other half of the glass is full of potential

Dear Coyote,

I'm about halfway through a long, dark tunnel which I painted on the side of a large rock. Could you please tell me if the light I see up ahead is the other end of the tunnel? I need an answer fairly soon, as it appears to be coming closer, and I believe I can hear a faint chugging sound. Thank you for your kind attention to this matter.

Sincerely,
Tramping Through a Tunnel in Tucson

Dear Coyote....

I'm in a square room, each window faces south, a bear walks past the window, what colour is it?

Dear Coyote,

How many licks does it take to get to the center of a Tootsie Pop?

Sincerely,
Me Again Again

dear Me Again Again,

i do not specifically remember a "Tootsie"

but if that was the name of the woman i met in Virginia Beach, the answer would be 598

dear Remus

since your room would have to be located at the north pole in order for all the windows to face south, the bear would most probably be a polar bear - so the bear would be white

the window would most probably be clear

Polar bears aren't white though, right?

Their hair is clear - just reflective of the light/snow.
