a "like" button - so you can indicate your appreciation for a particular post without having to post a response

that way people know their post is being read and not ignored

Yes! Was about to suggest that.

Also would be nice to give reps to posters.

the like button is nice. i think the rep thing would be too risky for hurt feelings and feelings of being left out on this particular type of site.

We actually did have a rep system once. But it got removed because some users abused it to bully people with (in the little comment section it had).

Hmm how is it worse than the 'like' button? I know there can be a bit of a popularity contest with rep points but the same can be said about the 'like' button. I wouldn't support the idea of giving negative reps though..

Anyways, both of them would be fun imo.

if you couldn't give negative reps then i think it would be fine. but you know there will always be some rude person going around giving negative reps just bc they're in a bad mood.

I pretty much agree with everything that's been said here, except more nudity (Coyote!). :p Yes, let's please keep this PG-13. I'd also like to add though, a bigger inbox would be great. I have a tendency to just keep private messages, and I don't really like to delete them. ::p: Oh and a selection of forum colors would be great too. :)

Actually I'm thinking about the ones (may be even me there) whose posts, for whatever reason, wouldn't get any (or few, depending on how things go) likes, so we would be giving them just another reason to get depressed.

i'd love to see the "last edited by..." removed

it's driving me insane!!

I concur Blaba, I don't want the whole forum to know that I always make mistakes with my posts.

The other thing that could be changed is the 8 words or less rule in posts. Some of my 8 word or less posts responses are my best and then I have to add a few digits.

It would be good to be able to post images without having to host them on an image sharing site first.

Also more posts per page might be good.

But seriously, though. What I'd love to see (on forums in general) is when a post is replied to, it shows up in a message inbox. That way I wouldn't have to compulsively check every single thread I've been to recently, out of fear that I might have offended someone that responded to me by not responding back.

I do the same thing, I think that would be useful.

This is good too (or rep system if we were all able to be grown-ups about it)

Oh yes this. I'm always at about 96% full because I hate deleting any of the PM's, and when I delete them I always have to make sure they're quoted in another on of my pm's (i.e. the reply). I'm going to have to start deleting pm's I don't want to though, unless it gets bigger ;)

Yes this too. It's easy enough to get around anyway.

Oh, and a blog section I think would be great.

^I so agree with this!:)
No matter how many times I proof read my post for spelling/grammer mistakes before I hit the submit button, sometimes I miss a mistake and have to frantically fix them up in the few seconds you get before the "last edited" bit comes up down the bottom.
Then while rushing, I sometimes make more typos and then end up with that "last edited" down the bottom anyway! I find it annoying, off with it's head!:D

If you make a typo and you submit, you can fix it and instead of saving the changes you copy it, delete the post, and paste the fixed post in a new one.

PS: yes, I do it XD

I am on another forum which uses the rep system and for the first couple of months I was pretty much abused. Once they realised I was not going away they decided I was cool and gave me some positive reinforcement. In the negative reps comments, many a swear word was used to try to belittle me.

Works there. Would definitely not work here.
