Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy!!!! ~Douglas Adams

So much love for this book and the series. Adams' sense of humor is right up my alley. "Far out in the uncharted backwaters of the unfashionable end of the Western Spiral arm of the Galaxy lies a small unregarded yellow sun. Orbiting this at a distance of roughly ninety-eight million miles is an utterly insignificant little blue-green planet whose ape-descended life forms are so amazingly primitive that they still think digital watches are a pretty neat idea." Or this gem: "One of the things Ford Prefect had always found hardest to understand about humans was their habit of continually stating and repeating the very very obvious, as in 'It's a nice day,' or 'You're very tall,' or 'Oh dear you seem to have fallen down a thirty-foot well, are you alright?' At first Ford had formed a theory to account for this strange behaviour. If human beings don't keep exercising their lips, he thought, their mouths probably seize up. After a few months' consideration and observation he abandoned this theory in favour of a new one. If they don't keep on exercising their lips, he thought, their brains start working. After a while he abandoned this one as well as being obstructively cynical." And always remember, DON'T PANIC. <3

Just started reading 1984 for the third time. I love this book

It has been years and years since I've read 1984, but I remember loving it when I did.

Haha! Thank you superfluouslyme, that was perfect :D Douglas Adams has always been my hero :D I am a writer myself, and I still maintain that I don't really care how many authors I've read in my lifetime thus far. None has ever come close to being as unique or as outstandingly hilarious as Douglas Adams, and I would write in his style til the day I die :D

PS - Zaphod Beeblebrox is my favorite character...just saying :)

I have been given a book on poetry and stories by Edgar Allan Poe.
At the moment I am reading that, even though I've read some of his work on the internet, it's more enjoyable reading it in my hands.

^I like Edgar Allan Poe even though i havent read much of his work. He has dark poems and was an opium addict so that really meshes well with me. Are the works you are reading really abstract and hard to interpret? I might have to start reading some

You defiently should, I love his work.
Some of them are harder than others, but I recommend them.

Finished reading Waking up in Toytown By John Burnside.

First heard this on ABC Book reading!

Had to have it, then couldn't read it with the same expression to what I heard.. ::(:
And no available podcast ..*sigh*

I'm reading And Another Thing… the semi-official sixth part of the Hitchhiker’s Guide by Eoin Colfer. Can't tell what I think about it 'till I read the end.

Suite Francais by Irene Nemirovsky.

It's supposed to be a 5 part book about people during the French occupation but she was sent to Auswhitz and murdered and so only finished 2 parts of it.Shame as its a wonderful book :(

I read that book last year. I think she is/would have been a wonderful writer, but I had a hard time getting into the book. I think it was that there were so many characters and some had no connection to the others.

I didn't know that it was supposed to be longer. That could have been the problem, too.
