Speed dating on Friday! :o

My friend convinced me to go speed dating with him and another guy this Friday. I'm officially signed up. I'm so nervous! I bet I'm going to bore the hell outa all the girls :/

I would probably need some liquid courage before I did that ;) Not the best option though.

Um... just don't try to bore the girls. Relax, and have fun. If you don't meet anyone special, at least you won't be sitting on your ass by yourself, which is probably what many of us will be doing on Friday night. ;)

Awww, i really wanted to go to this speed dating event at my uni. Unfortunaly i have no one to go with, i wouldn't dream of going by myself...

It's speed dating for a reason by the way. If there's no connection, you know you just have to wait a couple of minutes for the awkwardness to disappear. So you should be ok ;)

Remember, it's 'mysterious and sexy' when you don't say anything haha.. You give off the 'cute & intelligent' vibe, so I'm pretty sure some girls will be interested!!

Otherwise, just a funny report to give to your grandkids...? umm, 'before I met your Grandma'.. :)

I went speed dating about a year ago on my own (most of the guys were on there own while the women seemed to be in small groups of 2-3). It really wasn't as bad as I thought and the time flew by as you only get 3 minutes with each person. At the end we all just mingled and had some drinks...it was nice and relaxed.

Unfortunately it didn't lead to anything more but you have to do it without the mindset of..... "tonight I'm going to meet my girlfriend of future wife" else you'll just be heading for a fall. I think I'll give it another try later in the year.

haha Yes, exactly!! :)

I like the idea of just hanging around, talking later... Even if you don't get to know that special someone at this event, maybe they will introduce you to someone else next time - their cousin or best friend or something like that...? :)

Actually it may be a good idea to (also) go to events where you see people on a repeated basis, so you can get to know them better.. Maybe you can find out about some cool events in the area next week or so, and casually ask others there who might be interested to join you there, or if they're going also? (eg if they like art galleries/gigs/concerts, or whatever you both might be interested in, ask if they're going to this new gallery opening/gig/event too etc)
Then it's kinda easier, not a 'real date' just more 'hanging out' thing, with different people coming if they want to...? You can still practise conversation with cool people etc.

Thats awesome! the best thing about speed dating is that you dont have time to bore them! Sometimes they give you questions to ask them too! If not you might want to think of a few..ya know so you can feel more prepared. Dont forget to ask funny questions like If you were stuck on a deserted island..what 5 things would you bring?

Ha, maybe most people can't bore someone in 3 minutes, but I can! I've had conversations with people where they got uncomfortable in the first 10 seconds, and walked away from me after 20 seconds while saying 'I suck at talking to people' and am 'so boring.' To me, 3 minutes of talking to someone I've never talked to before would be an eternity. And then it's speed dating so you have to keep coming up with stuff to say. This sounds like it would be tough for me. I can't come up with something to say to people normally, I don't see how I'd be able to talk to different people over and over again if i can't even handle 1 person.

So I went :) I was really nervous all day but once it started I was really relaxed and had a lot to talk about. There was rarely an awkward silence and I mostly found that there wasn't enough time to talk. Can't wait to see if I got any matches!!! :D

This is some fun event and a good place to get some training with dealing with females and carelessly do mistakes at.. I wish we got stuff like this at my place, i'd consider going there when i have nothing to do everytime..
