Just finished all 8 Harry Potter dvds

My SIL got the blu-rays for Christmas and she wanted to re-watch them so I watched with her.

...It was the first time watching HP for me.

8/10 - I had quite a few questions so I think I'll be reading the books to fill in the blanks.

The Usual Suspects: 9/10

Old film but it was really good, the whole film is about a criminal lying to a special agent.

Ratatouille - 8/10

I had never seen this one before. Which is odd considering I really wanted to see it back when it came out, but I became reluctant when I heard some negative things about it. Now I wonder where that came from because I really enjoyed it. Probably one of the more original among the 3D animated movies.

Fantastic Mr. Fox - 9/10

This was such an amazingly quirky comedy. It's not a particularly beautiful film, it's actually quite shameless in how simple it is depicted, but I actually rather enjoyed that. The look alone felt quite satirical.

Instant favourite. But this concludes animated movie night.

I'm going to try and get Fritz the Cat for the next one. Heard a lot about it, but never actually got to see it.

The Hobbit (7/10)

I used to be a LOTR freak when I was younger so this movie was pure nostalgia for me since they used the same music and same kind of environments.
I enjoyed the film and I really liked Martin Freeman as Bilbo and loved the scene between him and Gollum. However I wished the movie would have been a bit darker and adult in the same vein as the LOTR movies are. This one was more aimed for kids, the orcs didn't look scary at all.

Fritz the Cat - demented/10

I knew this one was going to be edgy going into it. It's more interesting then entertaining really. It's loaded with propaganda and moral heavy things, but not in a educational way. I didn't particularly enjoy it, but it was also oddly riveting.

The 70s were a curious time, wasn't it?

United: 6/10 stars

I'm one of those unusual American soccer fans so that helped me like this movie. Dramatic film.

not actually Fiona Apple
This is 40 - 8/10

I knew this movie had a Fiona Apple song in it, but after seeing previews and whatnot I had no real intention of ever watching it. I needed a distraction today, and despite my previous feelings it seemed attractive so I watched it. It was a little better than I expected, but much of what I expected, nothing super special about it but it was worth watching, but I would have lived without it.

Or, well, a normal person could have lived without watching it. Turns out, there were TWO Fiona Apple songs in it, one I wasn't expecting and was super excited to hear during an early scene and then again later in the movie! That may have boosted the rating a little bit, I dunno though :idontknow:;)

The Godfather - Part 1 - 9.5/10

Have to admit, I had never actually seen this movie. Which was an odd experience since it's referenced pretty much everywhere. I'd be like "Ha! It's that phrase from that one show.." and then I realize it originated from this movie. Derp.

I like the older, non-corny, slow paced movies that just go on forever, taking their time getting you from point A to point B in the story. Why don't do modern movies do that any more? Shame. Fantastic movie, though. I love it.

Silver Linings Playbook 8.5/10
There were a lot of things that were different from the book, but I understand why they wrote it the way they did. I enjoyed it very much, and Bradley Cooper and Jennifer Lawrence were great.

Unstoppable 7/10.
An action thriller about a runaway train, a bit corny and predictable at times, but kept my attention throughout.

The Kill List: 3/10 stars

Eh, watched about half of it and turned it off cuz baseball was more exciting than the movie.

The problem for me was I couldn't even tell what they were saying half of the time. Their accents were so australian that I was lost for a lot of the movie.

It was an independent film so the picture was terrible, adding to the lameness of the film.

I've liked independent films before, but not this one.

The accents are British or Irish, not Australian. This is a British film.

The last movie I watched was... Ice Age 4. It was ok. I liked the other three parts more, but 4 wasn't bad either. Right before that we watched Prometheus, the Alien prequel. It was better than I thought.

I wasn't going to see it at all, but I ended up watching Ted anyway. I actually quite liked it. It's like watching Family Guy with real people and a slightly different plot. Not exactly a family movie, but still super cute. And I loved that it was filmed in Boston <3

As far as comedies go, I'd give it a 6.75/10 (can I do .75? heh). I'm not good at rating things with numbers :/
