Lincoln 8.5/10
It started off a bit slow, but once it was moving along, it was great. (I don't think I have a bias because I live in the Land of Lincoln and am subjected to LincolnLincolnLincoln all the time. In general, I think it's just a fascinating story.) Daniel Day-Lewis, Sally Field, David Strathairn, and Tommy Lee Jones were great as usual. But so where Joseph Gordon-Levitt, James Spader, Lee Pace, Gloria Rueben, Bruce McGill, and S. Epatha Merkerson in smaller roles. Also, kudos to Tony Kushner for the screenplay. He wrote Angels in America, which I also loved.

So far, I've seen 3 of the 9 movies up for the Best Picture Oscar (Lincoln, Silver Linings Playbook, and Les Miserables). I think that's the most I've ever seen in one year. And I've given them all a score of 8.5. That's about as high as I go! :)

The Debt was on HBO, wow what a movie! I haven't seen such an engrossing thriller in a long time, let me tell ya.

The plot involves three Jewish agents who want to capture a Nazi doctor years after WWII so they can put him on trial in Israel. It's so good. Perfect tension, great cast, interesting camerawork. Love that they had them speak German too, makes it more interesting and realistic. 8.5/10 for sure.

The last film I watched was Pans Labyrinth. I already knew it, but a friend of mine didn't, and since I didn't see the film for quite a while, we watched it together.

On a scale of 1 to 10, I'd give it a 7.5. While not perfect, I like it a lot, and it's pretty unique too. Somewhat brutal at times, pretty dark, but interesting. A sort of fairy tale or fantasy movie, but surely not for children (too brutal and dark for those).

I watched the first hour of Django Unchained, it was good. Unfortunately I had a panic attack later that day and couldn't finish it, will today.

Edit:
Django Unchained 9/10
This film was really awesome, maybe a bit long but I enjoyed every scene. Jamie Foxx, Leonardo Dicaprio and Christoph Waltz were awesome in the film, great acting!

phantom of the opera (25th live anniversary show) 10/10 loved every min of it

Big mummys house like father like son .4/10 had it odd few small laughs but never out of this world

Know it says one but what the hey

TRON Legacy ---- 7.0

I loved how strongly stylized it was. Well duh, TRON universe, but still.

The Hunger Games ---- 7.5

I was a bit let down by this movie. Good film, but over hyped.

It was so hyped and praised and I expected it to be one of the best movies ever, but.. I don’t know, it didn’t wow me that much. Don’t get me wrong, it’s a great film, but I don’t feel it was as good as the hype made it out to be. Looking forward to the film adaptations of the other books, though.

Ted ---- 6.8

Funnier then I assumed it would be. McFarlane's creative influence is definitely visible in this. Which is a good thing in my opinion

Due Date ---- 7.8

A very fun, funny and somewhat quirky experience. Shame Zach Galifianakis's character was almost the same as in The Hangover(s), though.

The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe ---- 9.0

Never watched it before, and it was lovely in ever sense of the word. Instant personal favourite.

The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian ---- 7.3

I definitely enjoyed the first (movie) better, but this was still quite enjoyable. But frickin' humans, man. They ruin everything.

The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader ---- 8.0

Definitely better then the second (movie). And made me look forward to The Magician's Nephew.

Super 8 ---- 6.8

You know what? I enjoyed it. It's not that original or remarkable in comparison to similar movies, but I really enjoyed it.

I am Number Four ---- 6.5

I can take or leave ''I am Number Four''. The 'sent to Earth to protect your magical powers' concept has been done to death. It's superman in a modified coat. But it's a nice popcorn movie.

Madagascar 3 ---- 7.0

After Ice Age 4 I wasn't feeling too confident about 'once great' animated movie series, but this one surprised me.

Despite some awkward juvenile humour and a particular unoriginal character (because, you know, it's a kids movie) I made it through without cringing too much. I particularly liked the circus act near the end of the 3rd quarter of the movie. That was kind of impressive.

Dead Silence ---- 6.7

Reignited my passionate fear for dolls and dummies. Not very original, but it's really quite scary.

Mr. Popper's Penguins ---- 7.8

It was a bit corny at times, but I can look past that. It's been ages since I saw Jim Carrey in something funny. Through lack of seeing films he is in, mind you. Not due to his performance.

Brother Bear ---- 8.5

While it's relatively new, I consider this one of Disney's best classics. It is such a heart warming and well animated movie.

Brother Bear 2 ---- 7.5

Not quite as memorable as the original, but incredibly heart warming non the less.

But I have to say the change in voice actor was a bit jarring. I don't know whether they did that to sell the romance side of things better, but it was kinda off putting considering I watched the first one like literal minutes ago.

Pirates of the Caribbean 4: On Stranger Tides ---- 8.5

Not having the regular characters around feels a bit strange and empty at times, but other then that I loved it.

Tekken: Blood Vengeance ---– 6.7

This is one of those movie where you enjoy a nice seizure caused by endless awesome flooding the screen. Not too rich in story, but visually awesome beyond reason.

The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo ---– 9.5

There’s so much in this movie, it kind of boggled my mind.

It’s one of the best movies I watched in this list, but I wouldn’t watch it again soon. There are a few sadistic things in this movie (which makes the story a lot stronger and compelling) that really turned my stomach. I can’t in good heart say that I “loved” it, but it’s an experience I won’t soon forget.

Happy Feet –--- 7.3

I’m a big fan of music, musicals and dance. This movie had all of that. It also had a much different vibe than most animated movies I have seen recently, which was a good thing in my opinion. Its story is told in a more mature way then required.

And oh, I saw that quick hidden dry hump scene there, animators. Funny stuff, you cheeky bastards.

Happy Feet II ---– 7.0

This movie is pretty as biscuits. Amazingly impressive 3D animation. Much like the first one very musically involved. <3

Scott Pilgrim vs the World ---– 8.5

Silly, game styled, totally awesome.

The Nightmare Before Christmas –--- 7.4

I have to commend it for its animation. It proves to be a timeless method. However, other than the opening song I feel it’s a bit weak on the music end of things (which it has a lot of). Oh well, at least I can say I’ve seen it now.

The Iron Giant ---– 7.5

I remember it so well back when I was a little kid of maybe 9 or 10, I wanted to see this movie so bad. It back then was a nice movie. I always find creative use of 2D a lot more endearing and impressive then high tech 3D stimulated animation.

Young Adult ---- 8.6

I don’t think I’ve ever liked and disliked a protagonist as the one this movie.

The trailer tried to sell it as somewhat romantic comedy, which it didn’t turn out to be. Much to my surprise it was a really riveting drama that takes a rather realistic take on the awkward social cues that follow when someone gets stuck in a high school mentality in adulthood.

Wow. Someone's been busy! ;)

A couple of questions. First, I enjoyed Super 8 as well, but I have, until now, made a habit out of avoiding sci-fi/fantasy movies. So what movies would you compare it to? Second, which Dragon Tattoo movie did you watch? I'm guessing by your comment about the graphic content that it was the American version. I liked it as well, but if you are looking for a slightly less graphic version, check out the original Swedish movie. Third, are they going to make Narnia: The Magician's Nephew? They are pulling a Star Wars and doing the movies backwards. I suppose they will skip The Silver Chair and The Horse and His Boy since the Pevensies have almost nothing to do with those two books.

9/10: If anything due the camp value, such as He-Man driving a pink cadillac. Also, Dolph Lundgren is cool.

* Conceptually Super 8 borrows some of its main appeals. The most obvious ones of the top of my head are District 9 (which resolves around aliens that land on Earth and are being held there by humans), and Cloverfield (which revolves around a creature rampaging through the city that is for the most part left out of sight).

Though, of course, it borrows mere elements. The plot point are mostly original (as far as I can tell). While both District 9 and Cloverfield are (much) better movies on their own, it's handled capably in Super 8 I think.

* Yeah, it was the American version. It's not that I oppose the graphic nature persé, if anything I appreciate that it's all shown as it happens and they don't cut away for viewer's comfort. But I'd like to see if the story is still as strong without it throwing emotional-acid in your face.

* I believe so. I assumed the movie series was done after the third movie, like a trilogy wrap-up. But according to various sites The Magician's Nephew is planned for 2014. I'm curious to see how they'll handle it as a movie, since this will be the first time that they'll go backwards chronologically. It's been literally straight forward in time and protagonist characters.

They did mention the Silver Chair I believe, but they decided to go with a origin story instead. I Personally don't mind it that much since the story generally jumps forward in time quite a bit. Going backwards will be a nice change of pace. ;P

Taken 2 (director's cut) - 8/10

Never saw the theatrical release but I'd heard it was pretty bad, compared to the original. I did think the director's cut was superb though, and like the original it's quick and action-packed, at a running time of just over 90 minutes. Liam Neeson is amazing again as Bryan Mills. If you found the original entertaining, then I don't see why you shouldn't enjoy this one too.

Holy movie night batman! Ironically none of the movies you watched had anything to do with batman though, hmm...The number of movies you watched correlates with the amount of knoweldge I have of Fiona Apple to make a connection between her and your post? [she did a cover of Sally's Song that is awesomeness.]

Whatever ::p: this list is impressive on so many levels though. :brindis:
