Percy Jackson & The Olympians: The Lightning Thief - 4/10

Caught this on Cartoon Network tonight so I decided to watch it again, since I only watched it once the first time it came out. I got almost halfway through it and stopped watching. I forgot how much the movie pissed me off since it's so extremely different than the book. (Not to mention there's a scene from the second book in there) I find the casting to be horrible. (with the exception of Logan Lerman as Percy) What a HUGE disappointment.

Book is 10 times better. Sorry, I'm very particular to my movies being almost exact to the book.

Abraham Lincoln vs. Zombies 1.3/10

No, not "Abraham Lincoln, Vampire Hunter." "Abraham Lincoln vs. Zombies." It was a straight to DVD release that showed up on Netflix not too long ago. My dad and I only watched about 20 minutes of it before we could really take no more. It was pretty awful and obviously trying to ride of the coattails of ALVH and the rush of zombie shows/movies. The only reason it gets any score is because I think some of the actors knew that it was horrible and they played their characters in that way that is so campy that it's kind of funny.

The Avengers [2012] - 8.5

I really liked The Avengers. Sometimes a little quick, I didn't quite got as much screen time for each character as I would've liked to see, but considering its length I think they did a phenomenal job. It wasn't too rushed or speedy for its own good (I'm looking at you, Transformers 2 - Revenge of the Fallen (which was a all round terrible movie by the way)).

Was it worth all the hype? Hm, yeah, I guess. It didn't trump the Iron Man movies. Those remain my personal favourite Marvel movies, but that's really just my personal opinion. Though, the one flaw I do need to point out that it becomes a little too comic-ey with the Thor side/universe. Loki's royal getup kinda made me chuckle when I saw it in contrast with the real world. I can only assume it's loyal to the comics, and I don't mean any disrespect, but as a unbiased spectator it looked a bit silly at times. But don't get me wrong, I loved it. And I'm looking forward to The Avengers 2 in 2015.

Dragonheart 2 - A New Beginning [1999] - 2.2

I heard about- and watched, it for the first time this week, and it wasn't good. I dearly loved the original Dragonheart. It was sweet, endearing, exciting, with the flaw that is was slightly corny at times. Dragonheart 2 however, was just covered in amateurish influence everywhere. Let me explain why and what;

* The story was messy and felt last-minute-improvised.

* While cute as a button, Drake (the dragon in this movie) had the character development of a potato.

* It also didn't help that they almost cut Drake entirely out of the movie. The movie is called Dragonheart. Drake was a reappearing background character at best. Budget issues much?

* It had misfit super hero type Asian stereotypes !as secondary main characters!. A young women and a elderly man. They are, of course, capable of bringing down 15+ ''trained'' guards together. I had a hard time deciding which was more offensive, the idiotically untrained elite guards, or the insulting mis-portrayal of eastern martial arts. Stupid.

* The attention to historical accuracy (weapons, battle method, armour, ect) was appalling.

* It had terrible CGI. The first movie had far superior graphics.

* In the entire movie, they didn't leave town once. Making a bad movie even worse because it feels local and claustrophobic. Budget issues much?

* Tried to be funny and endearing like the original, but goes way overboard.

* Some of the worst battles scenes I've ever seen. Most of which were dominated by these awful Asian characters preforming Jackie Chan type battle moves upon possibly the dumbest guards ever.

* The main plot is silly and not at all captivating. The climax is even more boring, and stupid to boot.

* The whole thing literally felt like a college.. no. A high school film project. It's in the top 5 worst movies I've ever seen. The only redeeming factor is that Drake was adorable in the few times he was on screen. However empty and shallow the character was. I wanted to hug him.

I feel like I could've written a better script myself. It was infested with stupid errors in judgement and bad story elements. Yuck, yuck, yuck. Such potential ruined.

Cowboy and Aliens [2011] - 6.6

You know, I was really surprised by this movie. Putting cowboys and aliens together sounds like a silly and ridicules mixture, but in my opinion I think it worked out well. Though, it did have the ''grrr, we're mean and we're gonna kill you for no apparent reason and take your resources'' type aliens. Am I really too big a conceptual nerd to request that intelligent creatures from outer space are portrayed with a little more dignity? Look at Distrct 9, they did a excellent job.

However, moving on. We don't really get to see things from the perspective of the aliens. They're essentially just there to play the bad guys. They came to Earth during western times, and they're looking for gold.. for some reason. The story from the cowboy's side, was actually pretty decent. It didn't blew me away, but it was pretty good. A nice Saturday evening movie, as I like to call it.

Paul [2011] - 8.2

I loved this movie. It's one of those movies that doesn't take itself too seriously. It was kinda corny at times, but you can easily forgive it for that because it's just incredibly funny. It has quite juvenile humour, which is right up my alley. You don't have to be a juvenile person to appreciate juvenile humour, so if you're a fan, this will be a movie for you.

The one flaw I did spot is that's it's quite moral heavy towards religion in a specific part of the movie. While I'm by no means ''religious'' and I'm a strong supporter of the concept of evolution, I didn't quite appreciate how blunt and preachy they were. It felt.. weird. The movie is filled with breast and penis jokes, and then suddenly; Bam! Atheist moral message.

It was over in less then 3 minutes, and it was quite funny. But the subliminal message was just kinda heavy for the movie. A bit disrespectful.

Other then that, great, great movie. Very funny.

Actually was an okay movie. Stone Cold was a badass dude. Typical 'bad boy doing good' movie.

Taken, starring Liam Neeson - 10/10!

"Your arrogance offends me. And for that the rate just went up 10%."

Amazing from start to finish IMO!

When I saw Batman, they had a trailer for a sequel to Taken. It looked interesting. I haven't seen the first one yet, but I may have to.

The Hunger Games - 9/10

I told myself I wouldn't watch this movie until I read the book, just like I had with The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo, Eat Pray Love, Up In The Air, etc. My brother got it for his girlfriend today though as a gift and she begged me to watch it, so I caved. I loved it! Such a great, great film. I really wanted to read the books before, but after this movie, I wish I had them right now.

Love The Hunger Games! I give it a 9 tops. The onlyreason I did not give it a 10, is becuase they left some things out, and some info aswell. Most people who watched it, probably read the books aswell. It was the opposite for me.

I got it in BLuRay, but sadly, all the computers in the house, do not have a BluRay compatible drive, and I don't think we have a BluRay DVD player. Rats! Oh well.

I want to see what the menu and stuff looks like, Easter Eggs, that sorta of stuff. I suppose I can bring it into a store, boot up Ubuntu, and play it on one of their laptops that have BluRay. ;)

Went to see The Words today. It was kind of long and the ending was weird. Meh. I'll give it a 6/10 because parts of it were good - and Bradley Cooper is very easy on the eyes! :)

J. Edgar - 7/10 Interesting character but as much as I love Leo D as an actor, I was a bit bored through some parts.
Cabin In The Woods - 8/10 At first I thought it was just another dumb horror movie, but there were some twists and it wasn't predictable at all. It was a pretty creative.
The Grey - 6/10 I love Liam Neeson, if he hadn't been in the movie it would've been a definite flop in my eyes. Every other character fell flat for me. I felt like it dragged a bit and the ending was kind of meh. The tense moments were done well.

^ I've heard about that.

I had a friend that went with me to see the movie (opening night at midnight, what of it?? :)) and she hadn't read the books. But she devoured them after seeing the movie. You should definitely read them before Catching Fire comes out. 'Cause things are about to get even crazier!

Margaret - 9.5

everyone should see this one

What is it about? I've never heard of it. Of course I could IMDB it, but that takes effort. ;)

I rewatched Finding Nemo with my dad for the 4703rd time. Still hilarious. 9.8/10

Hopefully I will be seeing The Perks of Being a Wallflower soon.... whenever the stupid movie comes out.

Our Idiot Brother.

Loved it! It was funny AND sweet. Is it weird I teared up for him when he yelled during charades? Anywho, on a personal level I rate it a 9. On its merits as a movie, it's about a 7. Still pretty good.

Teeth - 6/10

it had some really funny/ gross parts in it. some people may find that it makes them want to throw up and other people might find it funny. i found it grossly funny but it lacked a good storyline which is why i rate this film a six.
