The woman standing behind me at the store a few minutes ago paid for my lighter.
I had just put it on the counter and didn't even get a chance to reach for my wallet and she jumped in and said to the cashier "You can just ring that up with my stuff"

I mean,
It was only a $4 lighter,but I'm feeling real weird about it.

WHY

I would be afraid. It definitely has something evil to do with it since it's your 666th post
Actually, I wouldn't think anything of it. Some people just find it's a cheap way to spread a little joy. Want to know what is fun? Give your cart at Aldi to someone without taking a quarter in return. They are always so grateful- and it's just a quarter! I suppose every little bit counts when it comes to building your good karma :)

ha! I hadn't even noticed.
It can't just be a coincidence.
That woman was the devil and that lighter was a contact for my soul!

The main thing that weirds me out is that I convince myself that I must have misheard her or misunderstood the situation.
Like she was meaning something else and I just walked off with the lighter.lol
I didn't look back after thanking her and walking off,so it's entirely possible that she was just standing there with a "WTF face"

I may have to try that sometime. I've always preferred to be on the receiving end in that situation, even checking the rows of carts for lonely quarters that other shoppers have left behind. Hey, two bits is two bits, and those little darlings add up! Still, I imagine my karma could use a spot of polish here and there. I'll have to think about it.

A drunk guy DID ask me for "bus money" on my way home though....and I gave it to him.
Does giving drunks money to get more drunk count as "paying it forward"? am I even with the universe?

You'll have to do that and keep a diary, see if your luck changes, haha!

He was looking for spare change to buy liquor to fuel his intergalactic journey into space and time. Roads? Where he is going, he doesn't need any roads. (a day isn't complete without a back to the future reference, and I'm in a strange mood!)
But in all seriousness, your good deed doesn't change no matter what he does with the money. If you give money to a homeless person and he uses it to buy a knife and then robs a bank with it, your good deed will still be a good deed. Once it leaves your hands it's their problem. You did good. Maybe the drunk dude really DID need to get home!

Some kid left a perfectly good soft pretzel with cheese sitting on the table next to me at the fair yesterday. Why? It probably cost him like $5, and there are pretzleless people in the world out there like you who are suffering.

:crying:

I can't understand people who waste food like that. I'm not the least bit religious, but that sure seems like a sin to me.

I agree, I hate wasting food! That is one good thing about having a dog and chickens, they eat scraps.
In a sign of goodwill I send you this: Hope your night improves :)

And hey, if times get tough, chicken and dog are both edible! I'd say dog is a stringy meat though

A quarter? Man, the Aldi in Shellharbour demands $2. I mean, you get it back, so it makes no difference, but still!

Anyone here does calligraphy? Thinking about doing it as a hobby. I'm more interested in writing kanji characters but that sort of calligraphy uses completely different materials and it would be pretty expensive to get.

Two bucks? That's crazy! Do you have to stuff a couple of bills in there, or do you have $2 coins? Seems to me like they're shooting themselves in the foot on that one. I mean, if you have to put down $2 to use a cart instead of a quarter, even temporarily, that leaves you with $1.75 less in hand to spend in the store, right?

I've always had a disconnect with reality to some extent, but lately it's been worse than ever. And...I'm not sure I want to hang on to reality or my sanity anymore. Reality is very lonely and very painful.

I want something different. I want a different life. I want to be someone else...I always have.

It's like everything is coming to the surface. Things I thought I had let go of have come back.

I feel completely alone.
