Uptight isn't how I'd describe music these days. It's more meanless, I'd say. Naw, mediocre would be a better way to describe - at least if yer talkin' what mostly played on the radio.

^ Does that sound weird comin' from a guy born in the late 80s? That a majority of music I like is from like a year or years before I was born, with exception to some of the 90s grunge stuff, like Soundgarden and Pearl Jam.

Well I was born in the early 70s and the music I like is from around 1966 to 1984. There were some bright spots in the 90s and a few in the 00s.

When I was a teenager in the 80s I was listening to music from the 60s and 70s mostly. Although there was some excellent metal and punk in the 80s.
