Do you have days when you have nothing to do?

Hey there,

It's a free day today, it's a national thing in holland, all people have no work or school today. But these days, when I have nothing to do, I find myself being bored, just staring at the computer screen, it sucks.

Do you have any tips how to fill my day?

I am downloading Anime, but is there anything more amusing

Yeah, I've had many, many, many, many days like this, even if they're not public holidays. ::p:

It's a day for you to be you. Go for a leisurely walk, read a good book, listen to a good piece of music, cook something nice. Just enjoy. It's too easy to fall into negative habits when boredom strikes, but being able to stop that is a good task. :)

I hope you enjoy your day off!

Public Holidays, weekends, rec leave.

At work sometimes there's nothing to do when the computer shuts down.

Cooking is a very good idea! Love to bake nice Recipes.

A good book yeah that does miracles thanks. I guess I'm always up to doing productive stuff, like learning, studying, stuff like that. but I can't do that everyday. I'm obsessed with learning hehe. I should be able to just relax and do something for fun.

Nothing wrong with loving to learn. I think that's a wonderful trait to have. :) It's important to have some downtime, too.

Most of my days are days where I have nothing to do. I can't really give you any advice though because I usually just wait it out until it's time to go to bed.

After my final, I will be free for about 2-3 weeks before summer school starts for me. In that time, I want to be able to learn something meaningful. I was thinking of improving my coding skills.

I agree with all the others. Watching anime all day can get very monotonous, so might want to mix it up with other hobbies that you enjoy. Learning how to cook can be fun too.

Most days I have nothing to do - or well I do have things that I like to do, but those things aren´t really necessary to do and nobody expects me to do anything or be anywhere.
A lot of free time can be nice but in my case also extremely empty, pointless and lonely.

Quite often, sometimes it is difficult not to do the same things. Found that I've lost interest in some of the things I did previously. Helps though to have hobbies/interests to fill time as a whole day can be very long, especially if you have trouble sleeping. One of my reliable go to things is to get lost in a book. Totally see where op is coming from and agree with others that doing something different and trying new things is great. Crafty, things, cooking, writing, sewing, making music. Baking is great fun and best bit is you get to eat it. Quite fulfilling too learning new skills, accomplishing something and doing it well.

Me too, doesn't give you much structure your days does it?

I will always do something with my day even on my days off. Running, photography, writing. This last few years I've shared with anxiety have actually been very productive for me. Work days are hardest I have to unfurl myself to go into the office. The office I work in has been a contributer to my worsening anxiety.

it was my day off, today

i slept late, did some laundry, played with the dog, fixed the gate, washed dishes, brushed the cat, got bikes out for spring tuning, dropped off a bill payment, and wandered around Wal-Mart looking for toilet paper and deodorant

there's always something to do

The best way to get bored is to spend your day on the computer. I tested it many times. I don't know why we do this. We just sit in front of it when the day start, check our e-mails, check forums, go on youtube, google stuff, waiting for something to happen. But nothing ever happen here, and before we notice, the sun goes down, we didn't do anything, we were bored all day, and we have a headache.

I have a very bad memory, so when I have a free day and nothing planned, I write down what I could do. I know it sounds stupid, but I make a little list and I write stuff like "going for a bike ride, painting, playing music, reading" or whatever I could possibly want to do. So if you find yourself being bored, you can look at your little piece of paper and go "oh! Right. I have so many options". :p

I never have anything to do because I'm unemployed, which obviously sucks.

That said, I don't understand how someone can get bored in today's world. I wouldn't have enough time to enjoy my hobbies even if I didn't have to go to work for the rest of my life.
