Last night when I was walking home from a friends house,it was really windy and this lawn chair cushion blew across my path and flew into the street.
The second it landed in the street a cop shined his spot light on me(So I assume that he must have been following me for a bit.) and ordered me to stop.
I turned around and looked at him and...

Cop:"Go pick up that cushion that you kicked into the street"
Me:"What? I didn't touch that thing"
Cop:"Yes you did,I saw you. Now go pick it up"
Me:"No,I'm not picking it up.I didn't kick it"
Cop:"So what are you saying? that it just moved by itself?"
Me:................."Do you not feel all this wind?"
Cop:What ever you say,bro *Gets in car and speeds off*

And then he drove past me like 6 times and basically followed me home.

He was out to do nothing but harass me.
I hate cops.

^ Sounds like a right bellend, so he does. And pittin' it nicely. Frae whit ye described, he seems like mair o' a c**t, actually. But nae surprises there, some cops seem tae think jist coz they've got the authority they can push folk aroon.

I watched the sun set today and I would like to watch it rise tomorrow.

I'm making an effort to appreciate/feel connected to the natural world in whatever tiny ways I can in the city, because it feels good and I'm sad that Western society is so far removed from it all. Nature is nothing but a nuisance to us now, it seems.

I want to feel more a part of it and less a part of manmade consumerist BS.

^ I have been feeling like that for a couple of months this year too. Except I connect with nature through flowers. Stopping and admiring the intricate designs and scents of each one I come across.
It can help to detach so to speak from the go, go, go nature of our society and learn to sloooooow down and live like we were intended to before being indoctrinated from birth into the consumerist society. Well, with the exception of when our ancestors were being chased by a wild animal of course.

I sometimes wonder if living in large cities and being disconnected from nature has some sort of effect on people. I've seen tourists visiting here that are amazed to see starfish and I've heard of people coming from more polluted cities who have never seen rainbows before

Thanks but I'm almost positive you're in better shape physically dude.

I second that. I couldn't run a marathon if my life depended on it. Not at all.

Keeping fit is a time machine.

Chronologically, you may be a couple of grades ahead, but physically I'd bet you're in better shape that most 30 year olds.

I am certain it has an effect on people, I'm just not sure about the extent. My own observations have led me to think it makes people more anxious, more depressed, less physically fit, and more self-centered when they don't have the dangers/awesomeness of the wild to humble them/remind them there is something greater and more powerful than them, and othee living creatures, and they are not the center of the universe.

Personally I find that when I feel depressed or negative in any way, when I think about the other living creatures we share the world with, it helps me because I realize my life and issues are very small in the grand scheme of things, in a good way. May sound silly, but it helps.
