Why do people post animal abuse on youtube?

Why do some people feel it's necessary to post videos about them skinning, cooking, or gutting animals on you tube?(Most of what I've seen has been southerner type of people murdering animals for the fun of it. ) It's revolting. I think videos like this should be banned! It's clearly animal abuse. I hate to see poor animals being deceased.::(:

There are videos much, much worse on the web. And not exactly in underground and unknown web pages. It's human nature, many of us like to see the most brutal and extreme aspects of our world.

Yeah, because the way animals are treated on farms and at the slaughterhouse is SO much better. At least wild animals had a chance to live a good life...

i have a real issue with people hurting anytype of animal. I tried to find a way to contact Youtube a few months when I saw a pit bull fight on youtube. Its the most horrible thing I ever saw. and I cannot believe ANY website would host such cruel behavior. It's just so sad thinking about all the animals who are so innocent and dont get to live of love.

Last night on youtube I saw a young guy put a mouse into a tank of piranhas, poor thing was swimming around trying to get out and then BOOM. They tore it in half. You know that Luka Magnotta fella started out torturing kittens, and then look what he moved on to. Really makes ya think........well maybe not.

Why would you even want to watch that? It's easy enough to avoid the sicker stuff that's out there on the web.

I saw a video once of a teen putting a dog on fire, he and his friends were laughing their asses off while the dog was whining until it died. Was pretty intense .. Makes you wonder about our great race ..
EDIT: Other one was another teen taping one of those little pirats(explosives) in a dog's mouth, this was in the news btw. Dog lived for 3 more days with half a head or something .........

The only time my SA doesnt kick in is when I am speaking against animal abuse. and I could certainly go to jail if I saw someone with my own eyes abuse a poor animal. I own a beautiful pitbul Jemma and speak out against BSL. and dog fighting. To the person who said they enjoyed it? (maybe I missunderstood it) you need more help then a SA forum. :)

I think he used ''us'' a bit broad there, looking at his context he might have meant ''us'' as in ''us humans''.

I am a human too and I certainly don´t enjoy it. If he put it this way indicates he enjoys it himself, or at least doesn´t mind. Otherwise he wouldn´t write this bs.

Any sensible adult feels angry when looking at those videos, because it's usually a very cowardice display of needless cruelty. But we tend to show emotion in different ways and intensity.

It could also have been a slightly misfortunate phrased sentence, we can't really know what his exact stance on the matter is from just that little bit of text.

There are quite a number of people in this world that seem to evaluate the status of human beings from other animals, where only human beings are capable of feeling pain, on top of emotions that are "only" attributed to being human (empathy, morality, etc) despite the fact that there's a substantial amount of evidence to prove the contrary. I think this is promoted based on the social and cultural context, on top of the growing product-processing detachment that comes with mass consumerism with animal-derived products.

How to videos about practical things such as: skinning, gutting and cooking are on youtube because they show how to do something that not everyone knows how to do.

There are also videos on youtube about 'how to breastfeed' and 'how to shave your groin'.

It's practical skills and open for everyone to view and do with as they please.
Some people may be doing it specifically to torture animals but there's no way to police that and taking the video down just to prevent the odd person from doing something bad follows more along the lines of censorship... which is seen as a negative thing, is it not?

I was raised in a metis community, in an aboriginal household.
I was taught to fish when I was 4; and to skin, gut and fillet that same fish by the time I was 6.
And then I would EAT it.
It's a cultural thing that is not seen as animal abuse whatsoever.

Like every other video on the internet-- if it's something you do not like, you can do a few different things:
1) complain to the people or site hosting the video
2) turn the video off and choose not to watch it
or 3) leave 50 comments on how unethical and wrong the video is

It's a free internets (unfortunately)

That's very agressive of you.

The OP asked a question about the reason people post such kind of content on YT and I gave him/her a logical answer.

Are you asking if I personally enjoy videos of animal abuse?, well I don't.

Oh, and also...

I am a human too and I certainly don´t enjoy it.

Are you somehow representative of every single human being on the planet?

There are many people being raped, tortured and murdered every single day and somehow the idea that a somewhat significant fraction of the human race may enjoy, or at least not be disturbed by, videos of animal abuse seems unbelievable to you?

That's extremely naive.

Most of the time, people who torture or kill animals go on to kill humans later in life. It's been proven.

Fortunately, this is something I wouldn't even think of to look for on Youtube, for which I am thankful.

Because people are weird. I came across a gore website that showed beheadings, people getting shot in the head, and other sick videos.
