So how long have we had an adult forum?

I just noticed it recently. Is this a new thing, or have I been oblivious for awhile? And what's the rule then? Is it still PG-13 everywhere else and not here, or what?

I just noticed this now, too. Looks like most of the threads I can see are about suicide and sex, which I guess are adult topics. I wonder if those under 18 can even see this. Strange.

There isn't even any sort of content warning when you click on it. I don't remember whether users have to enter a birthday when they sign up. I also noticed many of these threads are old and were in different forums at one time, so they've clearly been moved.

the webmaster just created that the other day

not sure what his intentions are at this point

Thanks. I'm glad to see it's not something I've skimmed over for months. Once it's clear what his intentions are, I hope there will be some sort of rules posted if they differ from the rest of the site.

I just noticed today this forum existed, and merely because the "Cat Men Are Sexy" and my thread regarding people looking to hard into things to claim sexism got moved here.

Huh. Go figure.

I think that, by ratio, everything should be adults only besides one little section called 'Children's Section' or 'Teen Issues'. That way, we can say the eff word.

Some adults don't want to discuss sexual issues and some won't appreciate excessive swearing.

The thing I don't get is that the site rules state that the PG-13 rule is due to the server rating. So I don't know if that has changed, or if we really don't have more freedom now and this section is just for mature topics.

I was wondering what happened to my thread, lol. Good to see it's still alive and kicking.

I know, I'm just kidding around. I do think the trust system can go a long way though, like instead of censoring certain words, let them be used in good taste, etc.

looks like he set it up to arbitrarily filter out and send here any threads with specific words in the title, like "sex" and "suicide"

just like the swear filter, in it's current (slightly silly) iteration, filters out "j e r k" and any common english word with the letters "a n a l" in them - obviously set up to discourage porn bots and porn search engines from descending on us

the main concern seems to be trying not to offend the sponsors who purchase advertising space here, NOT the views or opinons of the users

That makes a lot of sense. I saw in the rules that excessive swearing was a no-no, but does that count for stuff that gets asterisked out?

FWIW, I personally have no problem with swearing.

I was actually starting to wonder that. That would have been an awful lot of work to manually move all those threads. Also, threads like Post a Picture of Your Sexy Cat aren't exactly about anything sexual, so it seemed like it was automatic.

It's pretty pathetic when you can't use words like ana1ogy without having to get past the swear filter. Why not just make the site PG already?:idontknow:

Uh-oh, they might get upset because somebody used the word j3rk in a non-sexual context. For some reason I actually haven't seen any ads here lately - just blank space where they would be. I have Adblock Plus installed but I don't have any filter subscriptions because most of the time, I don't have a problem with ads. I just made a couple of custom filters to block some really annoying and intrusive ads. When I mouse over the icon it says nothing is blocked and I still saw no ads when I temporarily disabled it.

I would like to make a couple of suggestions for minor improvements, but I'm pretty sure it would fall on deaf ears anyway.
