Shopping for clothes alone

I haven't actually shopped for clothes in years; I have bought random bits of clothes off the interent lika a new shirt, but most of my clothes are from the 70's, 80' and 90's as they came from a thrift store on the mid-late 1990's. All my socks have holes, same for my underwear (Which I got from the Army free) If I needed to buy clothes, I know roughly what size I am and can grab them (If I had to go in a store, but haven't in years) or online order it. If you aren't sure, always go a little bit bigger as you let the clothing in or wear a belt. Then again, I'm not the best to ask on the subject of clothing.

I hate buying clothes, so I leave it until I am too ashamed to go out in public.

But I did bought jeans last month. Promised myself I would be brave and go through the whole experience. And I fitted about 10 pairs before I found something that fitted right. And afterwards I ran home and hid away for a few hours to recover.

Last pair of jeans I got were purchased in 1998 or 1999 and my mother told me I'd grow to fit them. Even then they were old jeans (Levi jeans that were still made in the US..lol) I still have and fit into those jeans and they are quite shredded. I usually salvage things where I can.

Outdated clothes? Well, no problem for me. I wear black 90% of the time. Problem solved. Looks good, no difficult decisions to make.

Things that don't need a perfect fit, like t-shirts or underpants or socks, I order online. Pants or shoes I got to buy only once every few years. Then it's definately annoying, but it doesn't take a long time either. Get black ones with the right size, try them on, if they fit: buy them. A matter of just a few minutes.

Well if it were just accepted to walk around in sloppy black clothes that don't really fit well, I wouldn't mind but unfortunately where I live a lot of youngish people are quite style-concious, fit and hip, so you automatically feel like a bit of a dork. Not everyone of course.

I'm not an ugly dude or anything, but my body isn't really perfect, the "teddy bear" physique. Not fat but chubby-ish. It's really hard to find clothing that looks somewhat hip and stylish, neat, and makes me look like I take care of my looks.

F**k what other people think, don't be part of their herd of trendy hip and stylish fashionistas; be an individual and wear what you like. Then again, what do I know (Not being sarcastic at all here—no, really.) I'm just some guy who isn't social but big on individuality.

Suprisingly i dont have a problem with this, but i think thats because i have a much easier time conversing with women than i do men. And as there are usually women working in stores like this that makes it easier. Plus women are usually really good judges of what looks good vs what doesnt, so its great to get a girl to help dress me LOL.

Twice in life when a 'temp' girlfriend was with me to advise what to get. What's that verb: 'shopping'? I think it should be 'buying'

Told to wear something that fits (tight) was a very new idea to me. Before that, I got only 'fat' clothes - to show I had big muscles. Another time... 6 years later, I went to a clothing place and got a shirt I wanted, and was agreed by a lady who liked it. It's my favourite item, which I wear now.

I gave up on clothing retail for more than a decade, because I always had an idea in my head for exactly what I want. I could never find anything vaguely similar. How disappointing. I saw this as a very good way to save money. I am beyond the religion of sales, to force products onto a market who rely on their eyes to do the buying. I was a teenager who'd buy any music, and any appealing clothes, for years, but that temptation vanished

My problem with clothes nowadays is the fitting part. Since I have kidney failure my body tends to swell up and Prednisone does that too. So I need clothes that are bigger than my normal weight and clothes that fit me at my current weight. Its very confusing actually. And I just have a bad sense of fashion but now that I do care about clothes and not videogames all of the time, MotherWolff can learn how to dress with style! :D

I love shopping and I love shopping alone because usually when I'm with friends they tend to just slow me down and shopping is a sport for me, lol.

I love going shopping with my friends too and giving them advice on what's good on their body and personality. I was the president of the fashion club in my high school, lol.

I hate clothes shopping. I can walk around a shopping mall with my level of self-consciousness at a manageable 10-15%, but the second I step over the threshold of a clothing store it shoots up to around 90-95%! ::(:

All I see around me are cooler, better-dressed, better looking people. I just feel so out of place. I keep expecting a member of staff to approach me quietly and say "I think you may have come into the wrong store. It would save further embarrassment for everyone if you just left now. Please don't make me have to call security."

Bah, clothes shopping. The worst! I probably have to do it tomorrow for winter wear, as a European winter is going to get a lot more colder than Australian one, that's for sure. I am super skinny for a dude and it is so difficult to find clothes that fit my physique. I don't really care for appearing fashionable, but I am self-conscious about wearing clothes that don't fit me correctly.

The thing I hate the most are pushy sales people, who just mindlessly flatter you anyway, as long as they can get a purchase. I can choose myself, thanks.

I hate it. Even going to the grocery store alone can make me panic.

I shop mostly at the Goodwill for clothes, though. There aren't really any "salespeople" and certainly none who will hound me. Most of the customers look just as socially unacceptable as I do or worse, and no one really pays attention to me. Getting a dressing room can be a little nervewracking because they're not monitored, and you have to go through the knocking on each door routine and then knowing there are folks waiting outside the whole time you're in there.

Overall, though, it's much easier than shopping at a regular clothing store, as well as much cheaper.

I love shopping alone. If I'm with someone I won't buy anything for some reason. When I'm alone,I put some music in my ears and take my time.I love vintage shops and small privately owned clothing shops the best.I can get lost in those places and no one ever looks at you odd or pressures you to buy things.usually only one person is working if it's a really tiny shop and they stay at the register and out of your face. It's nice:)

i dont like shopping. but when i do, i prefer to shop alone. if im with another person, i feel too much pressure, feel like theyre judging me, or feel too afraid to buy something. and i like to run in, get what i need, and get out as quick as i can.

for me its fine if i go shopping in a big store where no workers are watching you. but i don't go to small shops where i get offered "help".

I prefer shopping for anything on a weekday that isn't a holiday-- and during school hours; and NOT from 11-1pm.
That way, most people are in school or at work.
