Chronicle - 7/10

Went to the theatres and saw this today. It was a really good movie, but I felt it lacked a plot. It was basically in the form of raw footage (which I like that sort of direction with movies. I feel you have more of a connection that way), about three teenagers that gain superpowers from some unknown substance they come in contact with.

I found it really hard to watch the main character though, only because I could relate a bit. He's socially awkward and shy, possibly even SA, and abused verbally and physically at home and at school. While I can't relate to physical abuse, I can relate to some of the things that were said to him, the weird looks people gave him, how isolated and angry he felt, and how people would tell him that he was "hard to talk to." After the movie I felt pretty uncomfortable, and I still do, just because it brought forth some not so good emotions and memories.

It's a good movie though, definitely worth a watch. Sorry if I've said too much already. I'm not trying to spoil it for anyone. ::eek::

Justified (TV series): 9/10 stars

Timothy Olyphant is awesome as the cowboy lawman in this series.

"There ain't much of a calling anymore for cowboys nowadays."

"Oh....you'd be surprised."

"It was justified."

The Theatre Bizarre: 5/10

This movie contains gross scenes and some short but not so interesting stories. The acting sucks. I wasn't satisfied watching this movie since it wasn't as messed up as i hoped for, lol.

Ghost Rider ''Spirit of Vengeance'': 6.5/10

All by all an alright movie. I didn't like the storyline so much but i did love Nicolas Cage in his role as the ghost rider. There were some awesome scenes:)

Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows - 7.5/10

I don't know what it is about these movies, I just don't feel they are living up to their potential. I liked this movie,it had it good points no question, but I think they could have done a lot differently. Everyone says that about movies though, what do I know. ::p:

Laputa: Castle In The Sky

I've seen this before, but I ordered on dvd and it finally arrived after 2 months! I watched it again today.

It is one of my favorite films ever. In fact all the Studio Ghibli movies are my favorites. Simply magical :)

The Dead (2010) - IMDb 5.5

This movie is a pretty straightforward Romeroesque Zombie flick. It has a low budget and B grade actors. What sets it apart however is the location. It is set in Africa. The zombie effects are mostly decent and sometimes amazing. It doesn't hold back from the gore, but it is also very creepy. The zombies is a constant presence, as a silhouette in the background, noises of branches and grass being disturbed or quiet shuffling or blank eyed figures shambling in the background. The zombies here are of the slow-moving Romero kind, but this only adds to the menace. What lacks in the movie however is some decent acting. I realized after the movie that the main actor filmed most of his part while suffering from Malaria so I guess he can be excused though. The ending also seems rushed and lacks any real impact. Still overall a decent zombie flick which I would recommend to any zombie fan.

The Guard: 8/10 stars

A surprisingly fun independent film. Idk why, maybe it's because I like different movies, but these type of independent films are so cool.

The main actor is overweight and unattractive, but he's so likable. I always love Don Cheadle, too.

The Hangover: Part 2 8/10 stars

I liked it the same as the first one. Lots of crazy stuff to enjoy.

Aliens vs. Predator: Requiem - 8/10

I don't really get the negative response this film got, unless they were all comparing it to the other Alien/Predator films. You shouldn't do that. The only problem, as far as I'm concerned anyway, was the poor lighting throughout, in probably every single scene. Other than that... pretty good I thought.

I've seen a few recently, mostly good

Moneyball - 9.5/10

Wow. It was good. It combined all my favorite things (baseball, statistics, underdogs, brad pitt ::p:) and presented them all perfectly. There were no bad scenes in this movie, every part was worth watching.

Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind - 8/10

I liked it, could have done somethings differently but still good. Plus Jon Brion did soundtrack, who is awesome and you should all look into.

What's Your Number? - 8/10

Not my type of movie, but it was good for what it was.

Zombie 90: Extreme Pestilence

Had I watched it subtitled I would only give it a 2/10 but the movies English voice crew sounds like they were pulled off a seventies Blacksploitation set and cast in the movie as voice over actors. Considering every character in the movie is white, it is pretty funny. As for a zombie movie it is pretty decent for old style pre-CGI gore in some places but mostly hokey. It's a German movie (evidently, Vince lied about them always making good stuff).

Also, the scene with the Geiger Counter had me laughing for days after - literally the worst prop work I have ever seen.

All in all, an 8/10 for humor, 2/10 for serious horror/drama

Higher Ground: 2/10 stars

Absolutely terrible. The only reason I watched most of it was to see how weird and bad it was.

If anything the movie is a reminder to not be overly religious.

I've been wanting to watch Casablanca for several years and today I finally did. Usually I don't have the motivation to do anything like watch and entire movie or something, but this time it was worth it, it was a great movie, I'm not surprised, so many people love it :)
