Grandparents weren't as present in my life as they were for most kids, which still saddens me a little. I never met my dad's mother, she died long before I was born. I am named after her though and apparently I do look kinda like her. His father died a year after I was born, so I clearly don't remember him. I'm glad he met us before he died though, because according to what my parents said, he loved seeing us.
My mom's parents on the other hand, her family is broken. Both her parents divorced and remarried, and so her family has always been a whole slew of problems. Her mother lived near us when we lived in NJ, but due to a broken relationship between my mom and her, as well as the fact that her mom was never exactly the motherly type (long story), her visitations were always very limited and few in between. Her father lived in NY, and once we moved here, we tried our best to see him more often. Her step mother never liked us though, never cared for my mom, and never accepted us, and because of that our visitations with him were pretty limited too.
So yeah, I never really grew up with grandparents.
Edit: All my grandparents are passed away now. Forgot to add that. The most recent was my mom's dad, which was 3 years ago.
