I agree about the kid thing... With adults I never know if they're genuine.

For me, seeing and hearing my little guy running towards me yelling "mama!" with dancing eyes is the best thing ever.

Also, being told by kids at work that they love me... I work with really high risk preschoolers (CP kids and such). There was a really tough kid last year and one day he said in this tiny voice, "You smell good." and then he said, "I love you." It made me all teary just because... he wasn't one of those kids that just said such things... and he had a really hard life and was so angry at everything... We had a similar child the year before and his mom told me that he had named his teddy bear after me. Things like that make me feel good, because they're genuine, and I know I made a difference for someone else who was hurting...

That's awesome. I used to work at a halfway house with ex-federal offenders that I mentored and have often felt these feelings. They're good feelings!

I recently quit but I'm hoping to get back into something similar someday.

A friend kept on about my shoes and had to own them herself, not really about me but sill its getting closer, i was inside the shoes ..

thats something right? right? ugh

I'm sure people have said nice things to be, but to be honest I really don't remember this. I have a hard time believing whatever someone else would say, because I cannot take it seriously. The small little compliments like "I like your eyes" and stuff will hold for a little while. That's about all I get but it's something ain't it? :D.

I never used to talk in my Spanish class, because I felt too uncomfortable. One day, during class, my teacher said, "I wish you would speak more...show off those beautiful white teeth."

Haha how embarrassing, but it seemed like a nice compliment at the time. I don't even think my teeth are that nice, despite having braces for three years!

In grade 10 art class one day I was sweeping the floor and a girl said to her friends I'd make a good husband one day, she said it in a sincere way.

i get the older kids at school telling me i'm the best TA and the young ones hanging off me lol

My nephew (8 now, about 7 at the time) said if his mum died he would want me to be his mum. sick and sweet at the same time lol (he said it like he looked forward to the day his mum would die!!)

And when the currant year 5 at my school got told i would be their TA in year 6, they clapped and cheered lol

now if you don't ind, i need to go de-swell my head lol

but i agree with folks who say that when kids are nice you know they are genuine. kids ain't faking shit. if they don't like you or something about you, they tell you to your face!!

whats nice is it goes the other way too!! (that is, if they like you they tell you, not that adults tell them they don't like them, just in case that wasn't clear!!)

I've been told that I am faithful and serious, that I can be a good friend, that I am a nice person, talented and intelligent. But I am suspicious and skeptical and don't always trust compliments.

Chatting as well. :) Whatever someone has said to you that was particularly nice.

People tell me I have a beautiful smile, and that I have a really good voice, that I am talented, and a good person... etc..

I know they are being sincere, but I have problems accepting it in myself? I don't know.. It's hard to explain..

3 or 4 times in my life, people have said to me, "You don't SEEM like a nerd/math major". None of them realized the compliment they were giving me.
