I dread my birthdays. I hate getting older because I never feel I've done enough for my age. And even if I get a whole bunch of well-wishes I'll be thinking about who forgot. I think I might ban my birthday this year, write it out of the calendar/take it off Facebook.

As long as you are doing what you enjoy, then you've done enough for your age:). Life is about doing what makes you happy; there's no set bar on how much you have to do in one year. And if you ban your birthday, then I'll just have to reinstate it then::p:!

My birthday isn't anything special; in fact, it could be said that I don't even celebrate it. I don't tell any of my friends about it unless they ask and they usually don't. I just treat as any other day where I sit in front of my computer and watch/listen to videos on the Internet and read. The only thing I do on my birthday is go visit my family and "celebrate" it with them.

The only thing I look forward to is the cake, cornmeal pie, and pizza. Since I've never really had friends I've always spent it with my mom and my brother only. My dad probably doesn't even know when my birthday is since the last time he was around was when I was 8. (I'll be turning 19 on July 18th)

Personally I hate birthdays!!!! But not because of the same reason that you hate them. I do not hate the celebration but the date. It irritates me everytime it comes because it makes me think that time is passing by but I'm stuck in the same place without accomplishing things that I expected to have done already, and I tend to get depressed when I think about it.::(:

birthday are very depressing when you haven't accomplished what you had hoped. I agree. Nothing to celebrate but another year of getting older and dumber and more in debt.

Not bothered about Birthdays anymore. Who wants to celebrate getting one year older? I find them depressing nowadays.

I agree. And I too have thought about forgetting when it is. Ie. Not checking the date and knowing hah. It seems to cause me anxiety. And really I don't think its a "real" thing anyway. Nohing happens on that day and I don't think you really gt older if you don't want hah. Especially not on that day anyway. I tried to do this with mine thats just been. But I was reminded haha.

"everybody starts acting fake" you mean like the facebook "happy bdays"? Or like family taking extra time to notice you etc but then going back to normal the next day? I feel like certain extra efforts are really sweet (like some of those facebook hellos from old friends who might secretly actually wonder how you are?) but then the extra attention from family I can understand where you come from.

I turned 20 yesterday. It was a bit sad saying goodbye to my teen years but then I just have to remind myself how much high school and puberty sucked. Personally, I hate my birthday (I don't want to get old) and I didn't really celebrate it that much. I still got cake and presents but that's about it. On the brightside I still have another whole year until I have to worry about it again. :)

birthdays are rough..i usually depend on 'mood enhancers' to make them more enjoyable lol..works like a charm..

Im always so sad on my birthday. I always miss my mum the worst on this day. I always think of it as the one day that we kind of shared. I never visit her grave except on my birthday I go up and leave up flowers. Its kind of just my way of showing my respects for her bringing me into the world. This year I broke the tradition and for the first time, I didnt go up but I didnt really celebrate my birthday either.

I don't really care about my birthday anymore. 2 years ago literally everyone forgot, and last year it kinda dawned on me that celebrating the day of birth with a bunch of people that aren't involved in my life in any way, shape or form is kinda silly. It felt a lot more natural not celebrating it.

I don't want it to be a forceful superficial gathering of emotional strangers at which cake is served. Because let's be honest, it's often not much more then that. I'll be turning 21 start of May, and my plans include watching TV alone, taking a nap with my cats and eating a pizza. As far as I'm concerned, a successful party.

marry me. LOL

i think after about 7 years old i quit thinking it was such a big deal really re: birthdays..i mean they may be important to some people ,but IMO they are something EVERONE has at least once a year and it's not as if we all aren't born

some people do tend to act as if their birthdays are a national holiday,,, i never really understood that.

i knew one woman that the month before her birthday all she talked about was her soon to be Bday, then the week of her Bday thats all she went on and on about and then even the following month all you would hear about is how she partied on her Bday..come on..enough already I said to her one day..in other words STFU lady..she was like 40 yrs old and it was all about her and her Bday..UGH:rolleyes:.. i wonder if she was aware of what she sounded like..prob NOT.

secondly because everyone is so fake, out of the blue everyone starts to notice you and talk to you and listen to you

I'm not sure that it's fake. It can very often be difficult to know what to say to people you don't know very well, and a birthday provides something to say, something nice to say. It's a way of reaching out.

I'd happily stay 49 forever, abut alas there is only 6 months until I cross over to the dark side of 50.
