Lately I've been thinking more and more that people suck. People are mean, people are shallow and people only care about themselves. It's because of this way of thinking that I haven't even bothered to try getting over my SA lately.
The thing is, my outgoing, super friendly friend (we'll call him Jimbo) always tells me about conversations that he has with strangers - cashiers, people in his class, etc. - and he always describes them as "Super nice" or "really friendly". So what I've figured out is that it's not other people who are mean and shallow....it's me. I'm the one who doesn't give anybody else the time of day. I'm the shallow one. I'm super picky and always look for reasons not to try to make friends with someone.
So I've decided I'm kicking my personal development into full gear. I'm going to smile to people that I pass on the street, maybe make small talk with store clerks etc. and once I start doing that, like Jimbo, I'll have a new perspective on life and people. Maybe I'll even end up making new friends! Or maybe I'll get a girlfriend! I know it sounds a little optimistic but, what can I say, I'm an optimist
