You are not allowed to dislike something that most people like

I'm sure that happens to others as well, but don't you just find it annoying when you are not allowed to dislike anything because everyone likes it. ( to skip story just go down to the skipped story)

here is my situation: I just came back from my cousin's wedding, It was a nice ceremony and all that, and i'm very happy for my cuz cause she married the only guy she ever loved since they were kids. Any how after the ceremony there is the eating and stuff, but after eating there is the party. Now pretty much everyone love to dance over there, my cousins, uncle, aunt, other people, my parents and my sister. I was like the only person, with the exception of some old people that wasn't dancing.

I don't like dancing, not because i'm shy or anything, i simply don't like it. I dance for a good 30 secs before i told myself yep i really hate it. so then I spend 2h30 watching other people dance while i was just bored to death. My parents didn't dance the whole time so i kept asking them when are we leaving and my dad would tell me to go back home walking if I want.

so then we go back home and my parents are telling me that I have a problem and i don't know how to enjoy myself. I told them to shut up and went here on this site lol

SKIPPED STORY

Seriously I hate this, it's not because of my SA that I don't like dancing, I simply don't enjoy it, like my mom would not enjoy doing exercise :D

I know exactly what you mean. These days every person HAS to enjoy outgoing things like, dancing, drinking, ... I just tell them I don't like to drink and then I get this as an answer:""

I like to dance, but there are things I don't like...like sports for example.

Also don't like to drink anymore. Makes me sick.

i hear ya.. i don't particularly dislike dancing or anything, but every time i go to the club with my friends and they get drunk, all they want to do is dance.. the whole time! i'm like dude, i'm not drunk, i can't dance forever like you can! i don't know.. usually i have on a dress anyway and i don't like dancing in short dresses because i don't want to show my ass or anything, lol...... and the drinking is another thing, i don't really ever drink but all of my friends do. they don't mind and certainly don't pressure me to or anything, but if there's ever any new people who don't know me yet and i say i don't really drink they're like "whaaaa??" ..it can get old

anyway, i can get how you're frustrated that your parents bug you when it's pretty simple, you just don't like dancing! lol.. just let it roll off your back, they'll get over it

I know it's easy to say and hard to do but just imagine all the people were eating the same food, wearing the same clothes and choosing the same careers. We wouldn't have anymore artists, culture, variety..we would loose our individuality. society really needs sometime a guy who simply doesn't want to mess with the goat, who has a different perspective, who wants to change human mentality and change the world (it might sound emphatic and idealistic).Just think what would our society look like if it weren't for some different-minded men as Giordano Bruno, Marx, Einstein and so on.Just be proud of being different from the others and don't mess with the goat

Yeah I know what you mean. I am a Christian, I don't enjoy lots of things the general public does.

I can't really say that I like it or hate it.. but I certainly don't know how to dance. Nor ever had a chance to. But I probably wouldn't ever unless it was my own wedding.

That guy has some seriously sweet moves.

I can definitely relate to not liking something that the majority of the population does. Not everyone is going to like everything.

It's just sometimes it's difficult for some people to understand how someone could not like something, because they enjoy it so much themselves.

On the subject of dancing, I think it is fun. I don't think going to the club is fun. But when you are alone and just "let loose" (making sure there are no hidden cameras around ::p:) It is kind of fun. Mostly because there's a kind of euphoric feeling that comes after doing active things like that.

You should be proud to think differently from other people, for example, most of people will say they like dancing because they "have to", to fit into the crowd.

Seriously dude if I go to a wedding and I start to get drunk, I wouldn't want to get up and make my whole situation a 100% worse, most of those people that were supposedly enjoying themselves probably wasn't. So showing your true self and showing your not a sheep like most other people is a good thing, your parents sound a bit wrong imo telling you that.

Just carry on what you're doing and if you don't like something, you don't like it, simple. No one else should judge you for that.

I hate the fact that I can't just be confident in not liking what everybody else likes. I think everyone has a right to their opinion, likes, and dislikes. I admire people who can be different and own it with confidence. I will so bad I could be that way

As a French guy, everyone loves the soccer (football).

It's lame and some sport to fill in for the French populace's boring existence.

I actually like basketball and because basketball is not French and it shows non French being best at it, it's not as appreciated as much.
