Would people with S/A survive the zombie apocalypse?

Ok, i know this thread sounds ridiculous,

But seriously, would our nervous instincts give us any more of a survival advantage in this kind of situation?.

I think my general avoidance of people may assist.

Discuss!

**** yeah! Although zombie apocalypses aren't all run and gun from zombies. If you survive, you have to be able to live in a small community of distraught people.

I am quite certain that I would not.
I have zero sense of survival/self preservation-- I'd be trying to save people left and right and would probably get killed right away.
haha

I've won most games I played with a zombie apocalypse scenario but then again... those are games. In real life; making split second decisions-- I would think with my heart over my head every time and I'm positive it would land me in trouble and get me killed.

i wonder if maybe having to fight off zombies would be theraputic in a way? maybe symbolically doing to the remnants of society what we would love to do anyway?

Well... I sleep with a bat beside my bed just incase...
and I've hit people with bats before and didn't like it much so I imagine zombies would be too similar and would freak me out an equal amount.

lol, we have a survival trunk for disaster's should they occur. We did so on the basis of a natural disaster, but on some level we knew we were REALLY getting ready for the zombies.

You already sound like a survivor.

As for me, once I'm out of college and have a suitable income, I plan to hoard enough guns and ammo for a small army and live somewhere secluded in the country. Maybe I'm a bit paranoid. I might survive.

watch zombieland ; )
^ This. :D

The show Supernatural has a few episodes about zombies too that might help. ::p: They even have episodes about a Croatoan virus, which makes people act similar to zombies, except much more violent.

Anyway, in all honesty, I think I'd be able to survive through some of a zombie apocalypse. But I don't think I'd last through the whole thing. :p

I don't think social anxiety itself would have an effect on our survival, but I feel that most people affected by it often share other personality traits that would help. E.g., many of us are more accustomed to isolation and can endure it.

(I also suspect that the majority of people here have already developed some level of plan/strategy for zombie survival - just a hunch, anyways)

I think we would have about the same chance of survival as the rest of the population.
Once your survival instinct really kicks in, you will do things you didn't think you could.

I think we would have the same chance to survive as anyone else. Our SA may even make us more vulnerable because we would avoid other people and thus no one would be there to help us should anything go wrong. On the other hand our SA may help us avoid betrayal within a group, and one travels faster when on your own.

I think I would have a greater chance of surviving since I have survival skills, know first aid, knows how to make makeshift weapons and how to use firearms. I'm also not very sensitive to gore and blood.

As long as I am not in the zombie apocalypse depicted in the film "I am legend". I refuse to be involved in a film that destroyed a perfectly good book by Richard Matheson about vampires

If I am to be involved a zombie scenario it must have a decent plot.

If you're looking for a good post apocalyptic vampire movie, you should watch Stake Land (2010) - IMDb.

Think of all the interesting things you have time to learn when you are afraid to go places. I would say we have maybe a slightly better chance because of our keen abilities to avoid. Then again anxiety could really bite you in the arse if you have a panic attack or freeze in a desperate moment then you could end up food for the undead.

I know I would. My brother's friend has a small two story hunting cabin back in the woods. So we gather our arsenal and barricade ourselves in there to ride it out.

Me and my wife would probably be ok, the hard part would be getting out of the city.

Assuming we somehow manage to do that, we have a plan to head to her parents place far north of here. They live on a military base, her dad is a gate-guard, so that could work for us.

Its also out fallback position if the yellowstone volcano decides to burp. My inlaws live right on nthe very outer edge of the calculated fallout zone.
