i also don't care for the hollywood types.
i tend to like guys that dress differently, more eccentric or artsy, mostly wear black, maybe punk-ish or alternative style, even hipster-ish, but without all the facial hair. glasses are cute. some tattoos are nice. I don't like super short hair on guys. i prefer it a bit long. brown eyes are my favorite. dont care about height or weight, as long as they're not very unhealthy..
i like guys that are more outgoing, intelligent, educated, with some artistic, musical, or similar talent, and that i share common interests with. to me, there's nothing more attractive than a guy with a great singing voice or artistic ability. bonus points for cooking ability and being non-religious
I'll of course date people who dont fit that discription, but that's what i typically like.

For a girl - yeah there has to be physical attraction - but physical attraction rises when attracted emotionally and to personality/intellect. Intelligence yes! I LOVE someone maybe smarter than me (which isn't a hard thing
interested in more than nail polish and Kardashian. Also down to earth, silly, outgoing, would challenge me, wouldn't mind dating a lemur. I like legs. I like all hair color.

THIS THIS THIS!!!! I just can't get excited about a guy who might typically be considered good looking if I don't have some other reason to be attracted to him. Looks and personality aren't independent of each other.
And yeah, I don't go for the hunky Hollywood types either because I don't give a crap about how hot they apparently are if that's all there is. I like a body that's toned but not ripped. Muscular guys just don't do it for me. I think it's just unnatural and it looks like they're trying too hard or something.

Not to be shallow but i'm a 20 year old guy...so...just about any woman who takes care of herself and doesn't have a deformity...lol. I have never been in a relationship but as far as personality goes i think i would like someone who is understanding, kind, funny, and smart.

Give it to me straight.. I get tired of hearing how so many women like shy guys, when at a certain point, it becomes obvious they want the opposite...

Here's the thing with the shy guy or girl thing - the word shy is so misused and overused and broad. One person's shy is NOT anothers.
Shy guys CAN still be confident. Also they can have SA. They can have self-esteem issues and not be decisive. They can be the cliche strong silent types. I mean - it's like someone saying "I want a nice girl/guy" too general. Does shy mean you never open up emotionally even when comfortable with someone? Or just not much to say, or shy in more than social situations...
SO - the thing is probably more often and especially here, shy guys OR girls have SA and lack confidence/indecisive/nervous/beyond just not being a talker/etc. Shy can become an extreme where you never open up/express your personality so then yeah it becomes less attractive, understandably relationships cannot be a one way street.
I think more than "shy" it's confidence within that - if you can never make a decision, always are negative, unsure, too passive, unintentionally come off as uninterested or emotionally too detached, as a guy especially then those just aren't generally attractive qualities.

Sort of, but not exactly. A decent looking guy could look hot to me if I have some other reason to be interested in him, whereas another guy who's comparable physically isn't going to be so hot in my eyes if his personality doesn't stand out somehow. A common interest isn't enough in itself though. I can't pin down what's going to make someone attractive until I see it. But it's not as simple as having something in common and looking alright.
Shyness certainly doesn't disqualify someone (although it does lower your chances of even meeting when both people are shy). But then shyness alone isn't going attract me to someone. Just because some girl says she wants a shy guy doesn't mean any shy guy will do. There are always multiple factors. There might be one thing that first grabs your attention about a person, but attraction in general is much more complicated than that.
Again, THIS. You can be generally confident and comfortable with yourself but shy and quiet in certain situations. Or you can be shy and noticeably awkward. Some people are generally shy but can open up once they're comfortable with someone. It's not a black and white issue.
