Where Did You Meet Your Friends?

Hello everybody,

I have been curious as to where/how most people meet their friends and relationship partners...sort of like a poll Ive wanted to do. So, where have you met most of your friends and if so your girlfriend/boyfriend?

Hey there and welcome :) I met my friends generally through high school thats it sadly. Some friends through friends but they all still went to the same school...As for relationship partners. I met quite a bit in high school when I was attending still then after I was out of there I met one that stayed at the house for a few monthes and one from my sister (one of her friends)

Another one from my sister and her friend that hooked me up with. Most of them were in high school though...thats pretty much it lol...

I met my boyfriend through mutual acquaintances. Met the acquaintances through a hobby group that I found online. Other acquaintances I've met through a spiritual studies group, which I also found online. No close friends though.

i have met quite a few people online (mostly in this forum) whom i consider friends

in real life:

my girlfriend was introduced to me by an acquaintance

i met my ex-wife in high school

those are the only two people with whom i spend any time outside of work

anyone else i see occasionally, i am either acquainted with through work or through the two people i mentioned

i still keep in touch with a few good friends from high school and the Marines - but haven't seen them in years

Any friends I have now are all online friends that I have sometimes met in real life to go to concerts with etc.

Friends that Ive had from univeristy or college have now lost contact. My only relationship which lasted half a year was with someone I met online.

I have found that I have built stronger friendships with people I have met online than anyone I have met in real life. This is probably a lot to do with similar interests/mindsets and the fact that I can just be myself online and then continue that if i then meet them in real life.

I can get along with people in real life, basically from class (highschool and now university) but I don't think those relationships could be called friendships :/

The only real friends I feel like I have are my siblings. I have a lot of siblings so that's a good thing. I met my boyfriend on a dating site.

Let's see... My best friend that's in Mass. right now, I met her when I was 7 at a summer camp we went to together. It was a funny encounter. We had just came back from our weekly waterpark trip and because it was the last day of summer camp, they grilled hot dogs and burgers for us. Well, my current friend at the time and I had no where to sit, so we asked this girl with her little brother if we could sit with them. We did and we talked the whole time until we had to leave. Much to my surprise she happened to live a block and a half away and a few days later I got an invite to her b-day party. Who knew after that little encounter we'd be best friends for 11 years (and counting)? Sadly I haven't talked to her in over a month though, and haven't seen her in over a year.

My best guy friend I had met through his sister, who used to be a friend of mine back in middle/beginning of high school. (Long story on that one) I still don't associate with her much, but we're okay now. He's nothing like his sister though, and in some ways that's a good thing. He's the person who I can tell anything to and he won't go telling everyone else. Everyone deserves at least one friend like that.

My other friend is a complete social butterfly, met her back in middle school. Her locker was only 3 down from mine, so she would just talk to me every morning. Took me a bit to get going with the conversations, but I'm glad she wasn't the type of outgoing person to just give up on you if you didn't talk much. :)

And my last friend... who tried to kidnap me last month. XD Met her through ^^ that friend above. Really sucks when I can't talk to these people on a daily basis like I used to. I miss them.

Oh, and I can't forget you lovely people on SPW. :)
