I would have to say my favorite genre is RPG's because I love roaming an open world and creating a character the way you want. My favorite games are Skyrim, Dragon Age, Mass Effect, and definitely Fallout 3.

Mine probably has to be either RPG or Shooters. I love RPGs for the stories of course, some of my favorites are Final Fantasy 9, Mass Effect (kind of in the middle), Skyrim, Oblivion, and I want to replay Tales of Xilia.
For shooter I'm really big on co-op, so I go for games like Borderlands, Gears of War, and Halo.

Strategy,I like how we build everything up and then destroy it.

Favorite games are the Age of Empires series.

Simulation. I don't actually even care what is being simulated, so long as it's being simulated in a fun and fairly believable way. Instead of traditional shooters, I play Arma, a military simulator. The only racing game I play is Gran Turismo, and probably my favorite games are the creative business simulation games like SimCity (now Cities: Skylines) and RollerCoaster Tycoon.

It's also a great way to learn things. I know more about orbital mechanics from playing Kerbal Space Program than I do from taking calculus and physics, and I know more about cars from playing around in Automation than I would have ever learned otherwise.

Outside simulation games, I've played tons of Pokemon over the years, and Binding of Isaac has held me hostage for a couple months now. I'm pretty excited for GTA5 tomorrow, too.

You want to know how I got these scars?
I prefer mostly RPG's. Some of my Fav's are;

The Last Of Us
World Of Warcraft (been playing since TBC)
The Walking Dead Game
Skyrim
Fallout and 3
Morrowind
Oblivion
Game of Thrones (the new game series released not the first crap game they released)
Lara Croft Tomb Raider

I used to love Age of Empires too.

I'd say RPG and Sports. I always played sports games regularly, but I don't play a big diversity of them. I played Fifa/PES when I was younger and in the past years I've switched to basketball and have been playing NBA 2k. I also like those games where you have the liberty to do whatever you want and create your own story, like Kerbal Space Program, The Sims, Stranded Deep and possibly Skyrim, though I have not played it yet (I'm afraid to waste too much time on it).

Skyrim has been my favorite game since it came out and I'm still playing it so yes you may waste a lot of time haha. But then again I've been creating different characters and building them all differently.

its not exactly my favorite but survival horror is kind of a niche genre that iv always liked ..The remake of Resident Evil 1 was great because of the slow pacing and atmospheric setting .i'v always liked arcane horror (old castles, victorian mansions, stuff like that) as opposed to contemporary horror..which is a reason why Eternal Darkness is one of my al time favorite games because it had the similar creepy atmosphere of oldschool RE games and the storyline was really unique and it actually what got me interested in H.P. Lovecraft's writing...I especially like how you could examine stuff in the game and it would give a really detailed written description of whatever you were looking at..it was kind of a small nuance of that game that I REALLY liked and would like to see more of in other survival horror games.

i'd like to see more games in the style of CLASSIC survival horror like the one's I just mentioned...everything is so fast-paced and action oriented these days and that really doesnt work for the survival horror...when your running through a level shooting zombies one after another you really dont have time to stop and soak up the atmosphere of the setting..whether its an old manor or a haunted forest I like to be able to STOP in a game and really appreciate the finer details and nuances....a good survival horror game is like a BOOK because you can take your time with it. there's no rush.

also, resident Evil 4 had the formula down pretty good but i would have liked the castle part of the game to be a bit longer with more exploration and slightly less action.

LASTLY, there was a PC game I played when I was a kid called Zork:Nemesis that really got me into other movies, music books, and videogames that had a similar vibe.....unfortunately though, a lot of people thing that kind of stuff is "weird"

Aint no "porn" option on that list! hehe

But seriously, back in the 90s I bought an old 286 computer at a flea market that had a pornographic game loaded on it's tiny hard drive.
I think it was called "Leisure Suit Larry"?
I remember low bit, pixely b00bs.....lol

Leisure Suit Larry 1 was the actual first game I ever played as a little kid on an old green screened computer which we got from our grandmother.

It was great.

Lol that stuff is a big deal in Japan. I was on a ferry out there once and they had an arcade machine where you'd interact with Japanese women and try to get their clothes off. I wonder if its possible to get friendzoned. I got thrown into the friendzone by Morrigan on Dragon Age >.<
