It's been brought to my attention in private that a few members feel giving out titles as 'exclusive' or cliquey, this was never my intention as I just thought it fun and something to cheer the boards up, I in no way showed any favouritism.

I'd like to see if it was a bad idea and get some feedback with a poll.

Of couse I will give titles to anyone, even if they have never posted

It is quite cliquey I guess, because only "popular" users get them (Unless you asked for one) what I think you should do if it's posible is allow everyone to have their own title, they can customise it at will via the user CP.

Only disadvantage though is that some people might pretend to be mods....

Maybe real mods can have something distinctive. Like a huge badge. Or get their titles highlighted in red.

Well you can have blocks on certain words like 'Moderator' or 'Banned' I think, or it can be a punishable offence.

I really don't mind, it has never bothered me.

Aw, I didn't see favoritism in it and I quite enjoyed mine when I had one. There is a great deal of members and I'm sure if Remus had the time he'd give us all one :)

Doesn't really bother me. I actually like it, I think it makes things fun. I think it promotes the whole community feel.

Many boards let the user customize the title--but this way is quite fun :D

Neither do I. But can't you just imagine the elation we might feel when Remus finally imbues his wit upon us ;)

when my title says "banned" , "banned for 24 hours" or "banned for a week" i just take it as a joke, just a bit of fun, so thats what im voting for :)

Oh come on now... Titles and such are just a bit of fun.... People need a laugh or two up here with all the negativity here and in real life... I'm just glad that "BIG BROTHER" has a sense of humor...

It's for fun. I am not popular, but I have a title... How do you explain that?. So nope... I don't think it's a matter of popularity. You already know those who have been here for a long time... or those who are more active, so you know they won't mind it if you randomly give them a title. But the less active users and the newer ones have less chances to receive one, because you don't know if they might want it or they will feel annoyed by it. You can't know all the people in the forum and how they might react... That is my theory about why some ones have titles and some haven't. Am I right?.

I always wondered where those title thingies came from.

I think they are more fun now, knowing that the user didn't make them up themselves!

(makes a note to start brown-nosing Remus in hopes of getting "titled")
