Post your random thoughts/feelings etc

Also, I just remembered the reason why some threads here have ratings is because I once upon a time foolishly decided to rate a few threads in attempt to somewhat archive them.

Still feel kind of weird about that.

Sent a website a notification on Twitter yesterday about their site being down, and they were so appreciative that they were going to send me a 'token of their appreciation.'

They didn't have to do that, but it's sweet.
For a second I read that as Twitter replying to you, haha.

Good result, nonetheless!

I've come to the conclusion that without new, external good things randomly coming into your life, all you can do is rearrange the deck chairs on the sinking ship.
Or to put it another way, life is like a game of Scrabble. You can be the greatest Scrabble player ever but if you don't pick good letters to work with you will not get the points.
You can't make something out of nothing, you always need something to work with. Yet, it often feels like we are being advised daily to make something out of nothing to cure our own mental maladies.
Sometimes it feels like all the advise I have ever read on the internet is like someone saying "here's a paper clip and a Kleenex, now go make me a nice loaf of bread." Serious!

Holy crap you explained my thoughts exactly. What's more annoying is the people who hand the Kleenex and paper clip and expect a loaf of bread are shocked you won't just do it.

I also hate when people who never went through your hell try to give the dumbest advice ever, and argue "facts" about your struggle. It's similar to someone who has a broken leg to just... Stop having a broken leg.

Bleh. New letters plz

Exactly. At some point people are gonna have to realize that you can't get something from nothing.
Willpower is great and all but you have to have something to work with and external support to get ahead in any meaningful way.
It has become painfully obvious to me over the years that I cannot just "think" my way out of my problems.

I think I'll start driving again. I need to be able to get out of social situations like night outs whenever I start feeling uncomfortable instead of having someone take me home. Public transportation isn't viable.
There are a lot of things I don't like about the car, but I'll just have to suck it up. Two of the major issues would cost over 1000€ to fix, and the car is worth only 3000€ at best. I don't have a job so I can't afford it.

You know when you really want someone to text but they have not done so yet. There is always the possibility that they may not text at all and actually wish that I would just go away.

frankly,I am quite disappointed with what I am hearing about the report into lee rigbys death ,more importantly how the government seems to be letting MI5 off the hook. apparently they were not monitoring his activity and let a conversation on facebook slip through the net about a terrorist plot.... now they are trying to blame their blundering on the fact that internet companies don't disclose the publics activity and do the work for them. for whatever reason they were shit at doing their job, he was already on their radar of suspects who had potential to be dangerous 7 times previously and they didn't pick up on his terrorist plans. but since it's the british institution that is MI5 they are pardoned and excused and can't be seen to be at fault in any way by the british government as it would tarnish their reputation. so now the tories are trying to twist this to make it look like the isp's are to blame and who's going to end up suffering? us, because it going to mean our privacy is going to be sacrificed. also it turns out the government haven't been supporting them financially with a correct plan.... it sounds like they have been under-funding them and between them they are not really doing a proper job of regulating how its supposed to be spent and used, the amount they are giving to intelligence agencies doesn't sound sufficient either. I don't think facebook should get off the hook or not take any blame for this because they hosted the conversations for terrorist activity. but if facebook gets regulated whats going to happen? any terrorist with any common sense is going to use a different site instead, its simply going to be a case of them moving from one site to another. it isn't efficient enough to monitor everything, you need to concentrate funding towards the security services not put all your eggs in one basket and hope that multimillion pound internet businesses are going to help them out, thats taking a very passive role. crack down on their tax dodging instead of letting them get away with making so much money then you'd have more money to fund the security and police services. its always joe public that has to pay the bill and sort out these messes.

also, why am I still getting updates to a comment I made on youtube bloody ages ago? I don't particularly care about what some violent narrow minded ******* thinks about social groups and generalisations.

Why is life so complicated!

Something I think about everyday.

My only answer is that society forces us to live in ways that are not natural.
We trade momentary comfort for an uncomfortable amount of complication.
The human brain is not set up for this kind of stress, this much information, this much speed, this many choices, or lack of choices when it seems like choice is everywhere except within your own grasp.

The other answer is that many people secretly enjoy complication because it gives their lives meaning. And so they share the "joy"...lol

I'm really into gingerbread flavored things this year. I don't like trends in general because, well... ugh, conformity and all that :p I'm too cool, man. I'd be lying if I said I didn't follow any trends though - I think we all do. I'm not that crazy for pumpkin-flavored stuff this year, though. I've developed a love for gingerbread that wasn't there previously. I guess gingerbread is more of a traditional thing though, more than a trend. It's got that trendy vibe, though - gingerbread lattes, gingerbead pancakes, gingerbread martinis, gingerbread EVERYTHING. And Pumpkin everything. Trendyish.

There's this girl that works at the gym I go to that is always avoiding me. I'm not interested in her or anything, but I just don't know why she does it. All the other guys that work there go around the gym every now and then and say hi to people they hadn't talked to before, and sometimes they will talk for a bit with some of them as well. But when this girl goes around talking to people, she always skips me, but I don't see her skipping anyone else. It's just weird and it bothers me a bit.
