People say my brother has changed. But that's bull, he's still the same manipulative and sadistic piece of crap he's always been that abuses his voice to push his petty will onto others. The only difference is that he has learned ways to do so that it doesn't harm himself as much.

My mom and grandmother might fall for it, but I see right through that act. What really turns my stomach is that people see him as the victim, claiming what a nice person he is, but you don't get to be the victim if you're the cause of 80% of everyone else's struggles if you're a functioning coherent adult.

I bite my tongue on a daily bases, just ''dealing with'' frustration that is literally physically agonizing, and have been doing so for the last 15 years. Seeing someone raging and terrorizing everyone else, also on a daily bases, being seen as the victim makes me sick..

Well I have finished my essay. 1500 words - bit a of a chore actually. It's entitled
"Cultural Differences in Models of Health Between Indigenous
People and Westernized Mainstream Thought."

I put a lot of work into it - considering that the material was difficult to absorb. Guess I will see how I do.

Well done! I think that sounds interesting, actually, but then, I am strange... lol

I can relate, having dealt with a dysfunctional family all my life as well. My stepfather used to make everyone miserable while he lived with us (he still makes us miserable from afar), and then acted like he was the one being treated unfairly. He was abusive to my mother, and when she would tell him he was abusive he'd say "YOU'RE abusive!" which of course is typical abuser behavior... blame it on the victim.

I'm sorry you have to deal with that. I know just how that kind of frustration feels.

I had initially thought we were having a pork roast for Christmas, but my siblings have corrected me - it's a prime rib roast, even better :D I guess that's why it was so damn expensive. And we got two of them  Mmmmmmm, I can't wait to eat it... with whipped potatoes and gravy... sauteed garlic green beans...

Dinner had better come fast.

I'm also dealing with an abusive step-father, it's been difficult to deal with because after so many years, you begin to believe that it is your fault and it's hard to see that it is abusive behavior. Thankfully, I now realize what it is and I'm going to do something about it :)

Christmas is over here, so I suppose I am speaking to many of you from the future. You can relax now - the world does not end before Boxing Day.

Thanks guys - if I get a good mark I will post it online if you like...if I don't - well... I would rather not publically embarrass myself....
Even if you didn't get a good mark, chances are it would be better than anything I would write. I would also like to read it no matter what grades you get for it. :)

I have a semi moderate bias toward the injustice of indigenous and native people - it is laden with race related issues, inequities and ethical unfairness toward minorities - i think it is quite controversial because I let my brother in law and sister read it and they started arguing. But hey - I am only going off the all the material I researched - I think one of the finer points of academic writing is trying to remain objective - which is not something I think is very easily achieved.

You know your writing is good when people start arguing about it. :giggle: Neutrality is hard to achieve when you feel strongly towards one side of the issue you're writing about, but I'm sure you did fine. When do you find out the results of the essay?

After playing Words With Friends for a long time, I now see how much easier that is to play compared to regular Scrabble.
