Jobs for shy people

That's exactly how I feel! I don't need lots of money, I just want to be able to pay the bills, keep my internet working and buy art supplies (with some pennies left for chocolate and whisky, haha!) :D

As an artist, you could always sell your work. :) One of the tenants at the condo I do housekeeping for is an artist and it's a very expensive complex! LOL.

Im very shy and quiet in my work place i work as a sales assistant in a pet shop. Im fine just about talking to the customers but when it comes to talking to my co workers i clam up ! It just depends who you work with really. A cleaner wouldnt be a bad job ?

It depends on what you're doing cleaning for. For example, if you Usher at a movie theater, you would most likely deal with a lot of people.

Right now, I am cleaning for a condo. I get some alone time but the problem is that a lot of these people work from home, so I see them almost on a daily basis.

If you are interested in cleaning but want to minimize contact and want to increase your "freedom," you could always start your own cleaning business. Or at least use contacts through friends, family, etc and expand your contacts that way.

Hm I am a night stocker at a grocery store. I like it because you don't interact with lots of people, just the small group you're working with. But at the same time that can be a good or a bad thing... Because you're all stuck with each other no matter what.

It took me a long time for me to get 'use to' my coworkers, but I eventually did and I get along with pretty much everybody. Even though you don't have to communicate with a lot of people, communication is still a very important aspect of this job.

Oh God i would just work for food and rent at some underground basement or some dead end job where there would be zero people, and one or two interactions for few seconds a day.Instead i have a job with horrible hours,**** pay and co-workers and bosses, customers climbing over me all day long, and worst part theres no space to hide especially worse when blushing.I envy people everyday who make it to be artists or start doing something day really enjoy and make money out of it,too bad we live in a ****ty materialistic world, where to survive we have to be someones slaves :/

I work at a grocery store in the day time, so my job isn't for you because you gotta ALWAYS be communicating, and sometimes you gotta be yelling....Ok you don't really gotta yell but i do sometimes. I'm shy but i've grown comfortable at what i do so it don't bother me anymore. My other job i was a janitor at a mall outside and inside, but communicating was not that important even though you saw tons of people.

I worked construction labor. I got to be outside and that was my favorite part but I also liked that there was no social bs just do your job.

Jobs that allow you to work at home usually require you to have a certificate or work experience in that area first if they require no experience or qualifications I’d say they are some sort of scam. You can do online courses like admin type work, medical transcription, graphic design, web developer but they usually still require some interaction but you may be able to do those jobs from home and over the phone.

I read this article the other day which I thought was interesting

I work with kids. For me it is easy because kids between 3 or 13 years are still educated. Later it is worse.

I am studying now and when i finish i wish to be a teacher of foreigns because i can understand them better or maybe back to teach kids but with the age that. Not teenagers.

After reading through this thread, it just confirmed my thoughts on this subject. There are are very little jobs where you can work without much social contact, and all those jobs are low paying.

Personally, I've almost turned in 30 applications now, all to extremely low paying jobs that I'm qualified for, and still don't have a job. I'm pretty much out of options. I have no degree, so all that's left is fast food and gas stations. The three fast food jobs I had were hell. I got fired from 2 of them because of SAD, and quit one of them after 1 day because of SAD.

There is no way I could work in a gas station. Customers coming up to me all day long would be torture and I couldn't handle that.

I'm not a guy that just gives up on trying to find a job. This is the first time in my life where I've gotten to the point where I seriously don't have any options left. I've decided I'd rather be a mama's boy living at my parent's house than torture myself talking to customers all day just so I can have an apartment.

People like me are screwed right now because of the economy and the fact that we only have a few places that we can work. The competition is so high.

A friend of mine who has generalized anxiety is studying to be a Library Information Technician. Basically spending your day alone with thousands of books and doing data-collecting and filing.

I work part-time at the local library. It's really quiet and peaceful, to me at least. The only interaction I ever really do is help customers locate certain sections and books. Other than that, it's a pretty laid back job. I just basically sort books, input data on the computer, and help people locate things as I mentioned before. I'm getting $7.25 an hour since it's only part time, but my manager told me that she'll pay me $13 an hour if I do full-time. Not a bad deal, especially for such a menial job.

Other jobs that might suit a shy person are freelance writing or photography, which is where I'm aspiring to land a job in the future. Also, one of my good friends who has SA got a job as a Search Engine Evaluator. She gets to work from home and make her own hours which is awesome. I think finding a job where you can work from home is one of the best options.
