So today, somthing happened that really boosted my self esteem a bit.
were in the middle of a cold snap here, -31 c this morning, without windchill. Its 6:30 am, im just stopping off at my favourite coffee shop to get a coffee on my way to work. I come back, i had left my truck running, and the car parked beside me isnt running at all, and i notice a girl behind the wheel, bundled up in a parka, shivering.
So i wave to her, and she opens her door, i can see shes in tears.
I ask her if shes ok. SHe was just stressed out and upset, apparently her car died on her and she had been stuck there for an hour, and nobody was willing to try to help her. Apparently she'd asked a few people if they could give her car a boost and apparently just gotten brush off responses.
Im already late for work myself, overslept this morning. I told her to sit in my truck, its warm, and i would jump the car for her. So i do that, and i gave her my french vanilla to warm her up because honestly, this chick was shivering like a leaf in a lawn blower.
So apparently she was trying to get home from work. I said have a safe drive and maybe look at getting the battery replaced. Then she gave me a big hug, and shes like "i know your married (she saw my wedding band), and im not trying to be out of line, but it was really sweet of you to help me, thanks!" And off she went!
Looking back now, im wondering why she just didnt go into timmies to stay warm....
but anyway, good start to my day.
