I don't even remember what races and magical disciplines I used to prefer.
I thought about trying it out, but several things have thus far restrained me. First, my amazing 1.4 GHz processor. Yes, that's single core. Second (and more importantly), my track record of playing MMOs while avoiding other players. I mean, why bother playing a multiplayer game if you never interact with other people? Anarchy Online, DDO, and a plethora of f2p games have taught me that I don't play well with others.
Still, it might be nice to have an elf who can play the Moor Cowbell.
Edit: Oh, and I really like the idea behind the ABC music notation, too!

The community patch improves the original game greatly, since a lot of people never stopped playing it. It's here.
Inspired by LoTR on tv last night, I made my wizard Sauron of Morder. I chose orcs as my starting race, and hired Grishakh (had to rename him of course) the Orc Warrior. Then I went and kicked Merlin's ass with my wraiths.
