Something I have been thinking about now for a long time. Is Facebook any good for people such as ourselves? Does it ever leave people feeling desperately insecure? Do you spend too much time there? Do you get comfort from interacting there, feel "liked"? Does it feel fake at times?
Facebook Tales
I got a friend request today. 'Oooh' I thought.
"This is firoz. from uae. add me plz"
'Ohhhh::' I thought.
(I do not know this person nor have any mutual friends with person)
i got a friend request from this woman:

she said she was looking for her soul mate
she immediately asked me to communicate via yahoo
apparently she needed help getting out of a sticky situation
i didn't talk long enough to find out how much money she wanted
or what she was planning to do with the tape measure
LOLI think we all know what she uses the tape measure for,, she clearly charges by length
haha

Facebook drama is fun to watch though. It almost makes me wish I was back in regular High School.

for all you young people
when I was your age, the telephone was still connected to the wall
there was no internet
everyone kept in touch in a completely different manner
life moved on
Facebook is the current thing, but it ISN'T the cornerstone of life
us old folks just have fun with it, talking to old school friends, cracking jokes, being silly
try not to take it all so seriously - it's only as big a deal as you make it
you don't have to live up to all the hype
just be yourself, relax, and have fun
no one cares as much as you think
I feel the same exact way about it. Although I am 32 years old my age group even grew up vastly different than even those in their 20's. Cell phones, computers and all this stuff only came about widespread when I was in my late teens early 20's, I must say I am kinda glad this stuff wasnt around when I grew up. Nothing is more absurd than seeing a 7 year old running around with a cell phone.
Meh, I used to think the same, then my daughter grew to be a tween and I am very happy she will have a cellphone with here where ever she goes. She thinks she's the cool kid, when in reality she is carrying a leash with herand not a phone.
I enjoyed growing up in the 90's, the computers (Commodore 64's, Amiga's, cellphones the size of a lunch box, going from cassettes to cd's, not to mention 90's music and the raves, I outgrew it all but nostalgia will kick my ass every few months or so. The same will happen with facebook and other fads of this day and age. When todays kids grow up I hope they will look towards their youth as we do ours, and out parents theirs.
