Facebook?

Depends on what you use it for I guess. You can walk into a party without knowing someone and feel like ****, or you can walk in knowing your one close friend will be there and feel alright. Same w/ FB, (re)connect with friends and family, ignore the amount of friends and requests of 'friend farmers' and it's a great way to share stories and pictures.

Something I have been thinking about now for a long time. Is Facebook any good for people such as ourselves? Does it ever leave people feeling desperately insecure? Do you spend too much time there? Do you get comfort from interacting there, feel "liked"? Does it feel fake at times?

she said she was looking for her soul mate
she immediately asked me to communicate via yahoo
apparently she needed help getting out of a sticky situation
i didn't talk long enough to find out how much money she wanted
or what she was planning to do with the tape measure

I have often got friend requests from ppl that I have never seen in my life or have a mutual friends with, and they just anticipate that you add them haha I don't understand that kind of behavior,,, it's more polite to send at least first a message and talk a little bit and see how it goes from there

I have 2 facebook accounts: one I have like 200 friends which include highschool and college friends but I don't really talk to in real life, the other one is only for close friends and family members. Recently, I decided to deactivate both of them, because facebook drains too much energy from me. Looking at my friends' photos and see what a life they have, I get envious sometimes and feel pathetic about my own life. I get symptoms of, anxiety, depression and OCD from using facebook.
I won't be on fb for a while. I need time to clear my mind and work out things in my real life.

Well going off the fact that she's holding a tape measure and the look of the background, it would seem to me that she simply works in construction.

(Although I do have to wonder if she's suitably dressed for a hard day of putting up drywall.)

Facebook helps me feel social without having to be social. Which, in the end, is probably detrimental, but I've really been enjoying catching up with some of the kids I grew up with. Have had a ton of good laughs.
If many of the people I chat with on FB were like, "HAY! I'M GOING TO BE IN YOUR AREA! LET'S GRAB LUNCH!!" I would die and/or make up any excuse in the world as to why I couldn't make it. ****ing sucks.

I can't remember last time I got a friend request on FB ::p:

Anyways I have about 200 friends which is much less than my other friends have. I have contact with maybe 10 of them IRL and 2-3 are my near friends.

for all you young people

when I was your age, the telephone was still connected to the wall

there was no internet

everyone kept in touch in a completely different manner

life moved on

Facebook is the current thing, but it ISN'T the cornerstone of life

us old folks just have fun with it, talking to old school friends, cracking jokes, being silly

try not to take it all so seriously - it's only as big a deal as you make it

you don't have to live up to all the hype

just be yourself, relax, and have fun

no one cares as much as you think

I feel the same exact way about it. Although I am 32 years old my age group even grew up vastly different than even those in their 20's. Cell phones, computers and all this stuff only came about widespread when I was in my late teens early 20's, I must say I am kinda glad this stuff wasnt around when I grew up. Nothing is more absurd than seeing a 7 year old running around with a cell phone.

Meh, I used to think the same, then my daughter grew to be a tween and I am very happy she will have a cellphone with here where ever she goes. She thinks she's the cool kid, when in reality she is carrying a leash with her :D and not a phone.

I enjoyed growing up in the 90's, the computers (Commodore 64's, Amiga's, cellphones the size of a lunch box, going from cassettes to cd's, not to mention 90's music and the raves, I outgrew it all but nostalgia will kick my ass every few months or so. The same will happen with facebook and other fads of this day and age. When todays kids grow up I hope they will look towards their youth as we do ours, and out parents theirs.

I can't help it....I am one of those types who thinks the internet ruined a lot of things...same with cell phones (even though I have one). LOL I am pretty old school. But I just think kids belong outside running around and playing and not sitting inside all the time on computers and actually talking face to face to people instead of texting. Not saying all do this but this would has changed dramatically over the past 15 to 20 years and sometimes I am not so sure its for the better. Just my opinion. But I am sure that if these things would have been around back in my younger youth Id a been partaking in them too :). So I really dont know I guess but I am glad they were not.
