^ I want to live forever as well can you tell me your secret =D
Well you start by making these things called horcruxes, though I should warn you there's a bit of a catch involved in creating them, and it's probably not for the squeamish...
My tutor bought up a subject today and its made me feel mixed up. He was talking about victorian times and if we were now living in those days could we ever imagine how the world today '2011' would have developed back then.
Think forward in another 500 years (I know we wont be around then); do you ever wonder whats going to happen to the world, will anything be similar to what it is now or will every thing change? What new species will be here, what creatures will be extinct, do you think scientists will have discovered how to make people immortal, possibly bring people back to life?
I think things will deteriorate for most people. I wish I believed that mankind will have some kind of epiphany, and start taking a more long term view of the world and each other, but I just don't think that will happen. When you get down to it, we're just like any other animal on this planet. We consume what's around us until there's no more of it left. :

I don't think that we'll have discovered how to make people immortal, or bring back dead people, but I do think that human cloning will be perfected and made available to the very rich. I think it will begin with the super rich raising clones of themselves rather than having children (children are, after all, our attempt to have a part of ourselves continue on, so why not go all the way and do it properly?) but I think there will be research into trying to map the human brain. The brain is just a physical thing, but somehow it manages to store our thoughts, feelings, memories and personalities. If we can figure out how it does that, we can re-create it. Combine the two things together, and you have your immortality right there. Just keep making more "you"s indefinitely.
For those unfortunate enough not to be extremely wealthy, I think life will just get worse. They'll work longer, in poorer conditions, and that will be when they can actually
get work because the competition for work along with all other resources will only increase.
Given that I wouldn't fall into the super-rich category, I'm quite glad I won't be around to experience it. I'm actually quite happy I was born when I was, because I think I'll be able to just about get by for the duration of my lifetime. I don't envy those being born now. I think they're going to grow up in a world that's far worse than the one I grew up in.
