Coffee, yay or nay?

I have a love-hate relationship with the substance. Some days it really picks me up and gets me going, other days I have the feeling it wears me out and actually causes fatigue. It's usually in cycles (this probably has a lot to do with the way it affects my sleeping).

As far as anxiety goes, I think coffee (even 2 cups) can make me extremely jittery and get me in an anxious or nervous mood (the quick heartbeats etc.)

I would probably be a more focussed and less anxious person without it.

What are your experiences?

I drink coffee only rarely. Normally I stick to tea. I got one of these chrome glass teapots. And I like it, when I'm at home after work, and the little candle under the pot lights up the whole thing, and makes the golden tee shine like a warm lantern. ^^

Also I like feeling and smelling the tea leaves and so on. ^^

You also don't feel generally calmer while doing everyday things?

Caffeine is not for me, especially when taking anxiety medicine it makes it worse. I know what you're talking about with the symptoms because I experience the same thing.
I had to stop drinking sodas completely, along with coffee. It makes me crash, but when I crash I can't sleep and it takes me forever to shake the tired feeling.
I tried an energy drink, one can and I had to go to the Doctor right away because I couldn't sleep and was highly agitated.

I wished that worked for me, Ive tried all kinds of things for energy, but only changing my diet helped.

I like coffee. I didn't regularly start drinking it until about a year ago. I stopped for awhile because my parents were making such a big deal about caffeine. Apparenlty my mom is now really sensitive to caffeine and can't have any otherwise it gives her headaches. And my dad makes a big about possible impact on sleep and always avoids it after dinner.

Anyway, I stopped for awhile but didn't really notice a difference as far as anxiety goes. I only drink it in the morning, usually with breakfast, and I only have 16 ounces most days. If anything, it helps me.

I gave up coffee last year and feel much calmer. I used it for a boost in energy, but it was not worth it because it affected my moods too much.

Coffee is one of my most favoritue things ever. I only get jittery if I drink very large doses and eat little. But without coffee I'm pretty sure I'll have a headache, and the day is just missing something. The caffeine's effect seized to properly work after my coffee began to be routine when I was younger. It's no eye-opener exactly, but sure, I wont be as tired and feel better if I've been drinking it.

I've only had coffee from those 3-in-1 sachets so I haven't tasted real good quality coffee. Is there a big difference? I only drink it in the afternoons because for some reason drinking coffee in the morning hurts my stomach. I don't think coffee affects me much at all because afterwards I can fall asleep straight away. Ooh, I want to try iced lattes.

You must try a combonation of chocolate milk and coffee ;)

Love coffee, non in the morning means a headache, but too much means jitters, sometimes I can have more and become super productive, but I have to hit the mood and dose just right.

I love my morning medium triple triple. I dont care whats going on, if im late, on time, if the worlds ending, it'll wait till i have my coffee. I cant get going without it.

I only have 1 cup a day mind you. It feels wierd having it at noon or later.

Ewwwwwwwwwwwww, coffee.

Seriously, I don't understand why people love the stuff (besides the caffeine). It tastes horrible. Unless it's in ice cream or a frozen drink form (with gigantic amounts of sugar).

Too much caffeine makes me really jittery and my anxiety worse.

I prefer a glass of icewater in the morning to wake me up. It really works :)

I haven't had coffee since highschool. Never really liked it - plus it's bad for dehydration, sleep disorders and anxiety... not that not drinking coffee makes me feel any better but I hear I'd be worse off if I were to drink it daily.

I tend to stay away from caffeine and chocolate in general.

Well, students seem to be fond of it :) but water is way better, way to go for the healthy attitude!

Coffee? Can't stand the stuff... It tastes revolting... I don't even like coffee flavoured chocolates! And as for caffeine... I think I'm anxious enough without adding a substance which will stress my body further... Just water (3 litres a day) and fruit juice for me, thank you.

That is SO COOL. I want one. I love tea.

I also want one of these (ridiculously expensive) Teavana cast iron tea sets:
