Another game related story:

My graphics tutor at uni ended up at Valve. We caught up a few years back (Facebook, probably) and he was mad keen for my resume.

(I'm such a loser. *bangs her head on the table*)

^Your career has something to do with graphics?

Oh no, no. Not anything so glamorous. I was a coder.

Milton taught me computer graphics, which turned out to be much less interesting than it sounds. But we got on well, and he always gave me great grades, so....

Yet another chance I was to fearful too follow up.

It gets better:
The systems architect on the project I really loved was more or less my mentor. He was ex Javasoft, and after the project imploded, he went back there. He said, "Shhh, I can't ask for your resume, but send it to me anyway."

Better still:
Our project manager on that job left to work for Google. In 1998. She was employee number 13. Our systems engineer followed soon after. They wanted me to join them.

If I wasn't such a loser, I could have been rich.

And now back to our scheduled programming....

^Dude!

It's not too late... it's never too late!

Seems to me like you are/were a badass programmer - NO ONE can take that away from you. Try again... There is such a thing as respawning in real life (though not as literal and more symbolic :))

If I were you, I'd giver it another try, someday....

Thank you for your encouragement.

Programming is what I'm good at. And I do miss it, sometimes.

I have a lot of baggage associated with it. And my save point might be a bit far back, IT changes fast.

But where there's life, there's hope, no?

I like the elder scrolls series way more than the fallout series. Without the vats system, its just a really crappy fps.

Ask yourself, "When was the last time I did anything for more than 100 hours that wasn't related to work, school, or masturbating?" Since working and learning both suck, and masturbating is just furtive and sad, we can use reductive reasoning to conclude that your life in Skyrim will be better than your real life. And here's why:

1. Girls Talk To You

Talking to girls in real life is hard. Even if you manage to muster the courage to approach one, she just stares at you vacantly as your brain fumbles for the words to win her heart. Sound familiar? In Skyrim, girls still stare at you vacantly, but all the words you can say are predetermined, removing a great deal of social pressure. Plus, you get to talk about elves and crap like that, which a real-life girl would never subject herself to.

This is what a girl looks like when she is interested in what you have to say:

I've been away from this site for a while...been cruising through GTA4 and the 2 DLC packs. Such amazing games. Bought a bunch of cheap games this week like Duke Nukem Forever, Goldeneye Reloaded, Batman Arkham City, and LA Noire.
