There is a general conception out there that the white caucasian male is the top of the food chain..... And all other races are inferior.... In my opinion, this is wrong..... However it is out there... What do we do to change these archaic attitudes??? I am a guy who is just telling it how it is.....

I think it's true.

The white male represents economic and political power. Maybe the key is to become a superpower yourself, like China is. Although China's power lies in manufacturing and copycatting, it needs invention and fresh ideas to intrigue the world and make the rest follow. Just my 2 pence

I'm assuming you are referring to products made in China, Korea etc. If that's the case, how does people buying goods made cheaply by Asians equate to showing tolerance towards said people? You'd have a hard time trying to buy all non Asian made goods in this day and age. This is the age of the ASIANS!! jk.

China and Korea are two different countries. South Korea has a HDI on par with Great Britain and the stuff you buy from South Korea is made by Korean producers (Hyundai, Samsung etc.), rather than American companies looking for cheap labour. Furthermore, both Macau, Hong Kong, Singapore and Japan have both eucation and health departments that mop the floor with both the European and the American equivalents, so this might actually be the age of the Asians.

Yeah but my point was just because you buy something originally made somewhere it doesn't mean that you aren't racist towards them.

This may not be what you want to hear and may not be what others think, but yes, race does matter. It matters in all countries, no matter what they may say. It matters to all people.

Why? Well think of how the various races began. They began because people started separating themselves. Eventually the different races evolved.

So you could say that the various races, that diversity itself, arose because of "racism. If there were no "racism," the different races would not be here. They would all have mixed and intermingled long ago.

So, from this viewpoint, if you love and celebrate diversity, you should to some degree celebrate the race consciousness that brought it about.

I know this is a nonconformist and maybe controversial point of view, but I think it is true.

This is a point of view you may have never heard before. Most people think of "racism" as an unalloyed evil. In fact the word was originally coined to mean something bad.

Don't get me wrong, I do not condone ruder nasty or or hateful or insulting behavior in any way shape or form. I think Singapore is a fascinating and remarkable country, even though I have never been there. (Perhaps I will visit someday).

But the simple fact is that people do tend to segregate by race, and I suspect they always will. Japan wants to keep itself Japanese. They do not allow a large number of immigrants. They are robotizing their society to keep this from happening. they would rather have robots taking care of the sick and elderly than bring in immigrants. Israel has the same attitude. So do most other countries.

What offends me is that Western European derived nations are the only ones that are called racist because they do not want to be overwhelmed by immigrants. I think this is just plain wrong.

I will say that you should feel free to attend university in another country if you can afford it. Universities have a more liberal minded attitude and accept people from various countries. Many foreign exchange students go back to their home country after they have completed their education anyway. Also, In all honesty, universities are moneymaking institutions, and the color they care about the most is green.

In conclusion, I will say that "racism" is a part of human nature and it will always be with us, and it is in fact the reason different races are here in the first place.

It should make no difference to how a person is treated, I think it is about as important as the colour of a person's eyes. I find it hard to see how anyone can try to justify anything else.
I believe the only fair way of being judged is by the choices we make.
I have pale skin, and I want to be surrounded by good people, not simply other white ones.

You have nothing to worry about. The rest of the world (minus the occasional ignorant bigot) is varied and well-used to seeing people of every ethnicity. Asians are the most populous race on earth anyway, so everyone else is pretty much the minority. As far as racism towards Asians as a whole, I think that's really a dead issue. The worst I've done is make fun of a menu item in a chinese restaurant. But then I think everyone's done that at least once in their lives. :D

Racism and ignorance go hand and hand in the world I'm afraid. Since human ignorance is a trait that will never die, racism is a trait that will never die. In some places the people will be openly racist towards you, in others it will be more subtle. There will always be open minded people and those who would hate you for unjustified reasons. In the end, it falls down to luck and where you go as well as who you meet. Learning to deal with racism can also help. Sadly however, racism will be in the world no matter where you go, but you may make true friends and companions who can assist you in dealing with such troubles. The choice is yours.

I wish my skin were another color.

I'm quite pale - like one of those vampires in Twilight.

I love being outdoors - and I'd like to be able to stay out in the sun, showing off my stunning physique, without burning to a crisp.

I've heard of really nasty things like uhm, there was once a friend of mine was in Sydney when a group of Australians started throwing stones at her asking her to get her ass off back to China. Uhm.. well, for one, ..she's not from China. Did they mistake her because of her skin?

There is a very strong underlying feeling of racism and hatred toward 'non-white' people in Australia I am afraid, that's not just my opinion, it's very obvious and plain to see, despite the 'multicultural' image the government keeps trying to portray. It is pretty ridiculous considering that everyone besides the Aboriginals (which are now the minority) are immigrants or descended from immigrants . but that is absolutely horrible what happened to your friend - I've never heard of anything so extreme happening, it makes me feel very sad. Remember, not all places are like this. And of course, you may not come across any sort of mistreatment at all if you did come to Australia - those guys who did that are obviously pathetic degenerates, and I do hope they get theirs. There's many parts of the world where race means little I'm sure. The important thing is that you don't hold yourself back from seeing the world if it is something you want to do.

What losers. Im from Sydney and ive never witnessed anything like this but thats not to say im surprised things like this happen from time to time.

Mhmm but could it be that blacks are better received there? Since there are natives living there to begin with.. while asians aren't that common..

Actually, there are far more Asians in Sydney (and Australia in general) than blacks. In fact, if you walk the streets of inner Sydney youll see almost as many asians as youll see whites.

I completely agree that there are racists nearly everywhere you go. Of course, if you go to a more liberal place, there will be less racists. The more conservative the place you go to, the more racists there will be. Racism is one very sad, horrible, cruel reality of the world we live in & always has been. I really hope that some day the world will change into a place where race means nothing, but unfortunately, that day still has yet to come & probably will not arrive for quite some time.
