I listen to hard rock and metal the most, but pretty much any music lets me escape (except for country and rap ::p:). Lately I've been listening to Parkway Drive and Miss May I...

First and foremost would definitely be Iron Maiden, then probably Judas Priest, Metallica, mostly hard rock or metal. Other than that I usually listen to some ambient music, classical, electronic or some post-rock.

As of late I've been mostly listening to either Philip Glass, Aphex Twin, Mogwai or F**k Buttons.

Im an avid music lover and I listen to a lot of different genres. If I have to pick a popular choice of music to lose myself in, Id pick Gorillaz - Demon Days.

The most amazing music I have for losing myself in, comes from a Half-Life 2 mod called Neotokyo. The mod was decent fun, and more or less dead now, but the soundtrack, made by a composer in Australia, is a wonderful gem I will never forget.

+1 for Metallica, Iron Maiden, Queen, Pink Floyd, System of the Down

Besides metal/hardrock i also listen to rap, trip-hop or some subengres of electronic music. Basicly anything that fits my current mood helps me escape from this ugly place.

And it has to be LOUD! :D

It depends on my mood. Sometimes I prefer listening to depressing music. Ya know, just to feed into my already depressed state. :/

But I also love blues, rock 'n' roll and other stuff. I'm actually rather picky. Music does help me to escape, though. That's what I love about it.

Interpol. Lots of their songs are very atmospheric and you can sort of get lost in them pretty easily.

Other than that, I listen to the Dandy Warhols a lot to escape. They're a pretty trippy band.

I tend to listen to certain rap music and artists.

I listened to Tupac a lot during my teens so his songs always have a place when I'm trying to deal with/forget my problems. Has a lot of deep and meaningful songs!

Listen to Joe Budden a lot recently, has lyrics I can relate to.

Progressive Rock music (Pink Floyd, Jethro Tull, Genesis, ect.)
It helps take my mind away from reality and into creatively abstract worlds.
