^ I like that poem, S_Spartan, great imagery.

Thanks! The part about the phone actually happened. I once got into an argument with a woman and she threw the cordless phone at me from across the room, I ducked, so the phone hit the wall and broke. We were arguing over some trivial thing. I can't even remember what now.

Distant Memories

Distant Memories

Memories devour,
Masticating upon,
Sense and senility,
No longer strong,
Resistance eroded,
Passage of time,
Willfully abandon,
Vein sublime.
Twisted core,
Wretched mind,
Vengeance sought,
But undefined,
Reprisal passed,
Given by proxy,
Blood spilt freely,
Ritual with moxy.
Desperate thoughts,
Bequeath pain,
Everlasting image,
Resilience in vain,
Misplaced hatred,
Mutilated flesh,
Erroneous blood,
Horrors unvanquished.

I'm learning German, so I thought I'd try to make one in German. Hope it sounds ok.

der Schatten fur dir
es kommt in deiner Seele
du finde nicht ein weg zuruck
verblasst und es der passen nicht
schon es fur alle ewigkeit

It isn't mine, but I would like to share it.

Life is fine

I went down to the river,
I set down on the bank.
I tried to think but couldn't,
So I jumped in and sank.

I came up once and hollered!
I came up twice and cried!
If that water hadn't a-been so cold
I might've sunk and died.

But it was Cold in that water! It was cold!

I took the elevator
Sixteen floors above the ground.
I thought about my baby
And thought I would jump down.

I stood there and I hollered!
I stood there and I cried!
If it hadn't a-been so high
I might've jumped and died.

But it was High up there! It was high!

So since I'm still here livin',
I guess I will live on.
I could've died for love--
But for livin' I was born

Though you may hear me holler,
And you may see me cry--
I'll be dogged, sweet baby,
If you gonna see me die.

Life is fine! Fine as wine! Life is fine!

Omg Langston Hughes is like my favorite poet for realz. Here's a poem by him that I really like. It is short but there is truth in the words. And power. It is perfectly concise. Nothing more needs to be said, or written.

Dreams

Hold fast to dreams
For if dreams die
Life is a broken-winged bird
That cannot fly.
Hold fast to dreams
For when dreams go
Life is a barren field
Frozen with snow.

**** it, I might as well post mine in here. I'll pop this one in first, called Unearthed.

You loved my beauty,
You loved my flowers,
You loved my petals.
And you loved to pass the hours,
In my lavender scents, my gentle breezed sways.
In the tall grass around me, the forest in that I lay.

You sometimes loved my stems,
You at times loved those that cohabit me,
You oft loved the soft colours,
And frequently, my elegant sunbathing.
You loved me in the day time, when I was in full bloom.
And at night when I was vulnerable and closed, when I withdrew.

But you never loved my roots.

I was borne from them, they sculpted and dictated me,
How could you have claimed to love me and not they,
they that made me?

You never loved the times I withered, did you expect me always to bloom?
Am I not a living feeling organism, not entirely unlike you?

I really like this. I think it's beautiful in a sad way.

Okay, this post is going to be big...

I've no great wealth to brag about,
No afterlife; I'm not devout,
But I'm not sad for what I've not,
'Cos' the here and now's an awful lot.

Sophie worked at the library; it had always seemed to fit,
The books to read, the silent calm and all that comes with it,
She wasn't like the other girls, she knows that to be true,
Her favourite game was Solitaire, her friends lived at the zoo,
Her colleagues asked her every night if she'd like to share a drink,
The best response they ever heard was "I'll give that thought a think".

At school she wasn't popular, she never turned up late,
Which, as I'm sure you've guessed by now, it gave the sharks their bait,
Sheltered girls with Vuitton bags, preyed upon her nature,
Sweet and shy and do no harm and "Would you like some cake, sir?"
Their words cut deep and haunted her, she retreated to her shell,
The boys they looked straight through her, her life was living hell,
She came to think that kindness was a myth or fairy-tale,
Finding just a single friend was like searching for the 'grail'.

Returning to her adulthood and on the bus back home,
Her colleagues wound up downing rum, she'd sooner be alone,
Sophie had convinced herself she'd be safe behind those walls,
By staying home she'd miss those girls who gathered at the mall,
A fortress can defend you from guns and swords and mines,
But how can walls protect you from the confines of your mind?

A brilliant flame lit a wintry forest gloom
But the wind cried with anguish
And the trees were solemnly bowed
Their spindly, skeletal form silhouetted against their starry backdrop
The moon, shaped like a scythe
As a hermit roasted his latest catch
A young buck
Out to try his luck
Venturing out for the first time
Without his mother by his side
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Someday the sun will shine for everyone
Someday the dark will be light
Someday religion won't divide us
Someday love will guide us
Someday hate will cease
Someday rain will pass
Someday we'll all be neighbours
Someday war will be a distant memory
Someday peace will rule the earth
Someday there will be no taboos
Someday there will be no prejudice
Someday racism will be an old scar
Someday it will heal
Someday crime will only be stories
Someday fighting will only be play
Someday there'll be no need for protest
Someday barriers will be gateways
Someday locked doors will open
Someday obstacles will be objectives
Someday you will find freedom in your mind
Someday animals will be equal
Someday a thrown stone will be a stepping stone
Someday a stepping stone will be a milestone
Someday the sun will shine all the brighter
Someday grass will grow all the greener
Someday flowers will dance with the bees
Someday birds will sing on your doorstep
Someday you'll hum to their tune
Someday someone will read this and wonder
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"Little birdie in the tree,
Won't you sing a song for me"?
"Twit-twit-two", the bird replied,
"Why, thank you, sir, but daddy lied".

"Lied you say? But what d'you mean?
I'm surely best you've ever seen".

"He said of all the birds that tweet,
That your song is, by far, most sweet".
"And who round here can better me"?
"Why that there bird in yonder tree".

"The Robin you mean; up in the oak?
But this must be some kind of joke".

"O'Robin Red, could this be true?
That nobody can out-sing you"?
"O' Sparrow Brown, please don't frown,
But yes, my voice is best around".

"Then we shall sing and have a vote,
And if we draw, be judged by Stoat".

And the two birds cooed and the birds they sang,
And a chorus round the garden rang,
Oh, how they sang, oh how they tried,
But with three votes each the scores were tied.

The little boy's mother arrived on scene,
"What do you think of my brand new jeans"?

"And what's this sound that I can hear?
I've not heard anything like it in years".
"We're hosting a contest, meaning I can gloat,
When I'm awarded the winning vote".

She thought for a while and consulted her brain,
And promptly spoke without laying the blame.

"But don't you see?" The mother said,
To Sparrow Brown and Robin Red.
"The purpose of song is not to fight,
But to give each day some added light".

Insect on a leaf
Looks so small to a human
Yet big to an ant

Cows in a field
Grazing on the dewy grass
What a simple life
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Cat with a thick coat
Relaxing on a hot day
The flowers are squashed
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Man trying to cross
But the traffic is too fast
He is in a rush
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
One small, friendly smile
Makes for a merrier world
For those that see it
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
If the birds can sing
Without a care in the world
What is stopping us?
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
It is of no use
Fretting over life's issues
They work themselves out
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Does a spider sulk
When it's web has been broken?
No - it starts again
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The pouring downfall
Has got everyone hiding
Apart from the snails
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
What is important
Is having a jolly time
Nothing else comes close
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The sun is rising
In the distant, far off sky
Hope arrives with it
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Paths can curve and bend
We can never guess their end
Their start, however...
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Life is everywhere
Live, breathe, play, enjoy and smile
Nature implores you
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
To live in heaven
One must spend their earthly time
Living heavenly

Zinnias weep,
frequenting her forlorn figure
She writhes, wishing to replenish
the sublime, the splendor of a fool
All the words of all the people ever wandered across, whispering
of whimsical wishes now hang heavily as
fog around the edges of her frame-
beatitudes of sorts turned moribund
mauled by mountains of menacing memories.
"Blessed are those who…"
forfeit.

The following version is kinda bland without knowing the tune, so I recommend playing the video while reading it.
It took me roughly 2 hours to come up with this poem based off the song  (Long live the king of country)
Any constructive criticism is appreciated, as always.
-------------------------------------------------------------------

He was sitting there beside it, turnin' hotties down
When he went to get his third one, he looked around
Then he thought and said "I do believe ..... I'll try once more"

He said "I hate this site, and I hate to try
But on second thought, tonight I cry:
I hate everything"

Then he opened up her page, and threw a "Hello" down,
And his faded pride fell out and hit the ground

He said "I prob'ly ought to go ahead and quit
Cause they're the reason, I feel like shit
Why I hate everything"

"I hate my job, and I hate this strife
And if it weren't for my eight kids
I'd hate my whole life"

"I know I can do well, and try to write again,
But I just can't get over her,
Leavin' cause of them"

Then he shook his head, and looked down at his ring
And said "I hate everything"

He said "That one stockroom department; where I used work,
Was really not a job, was more like a jail
With a swimmin' pool,
and tennis courts too, man, it's just great

"I hate needy - gloomy, nice and mean
Be ya fat and thin, or any in between
I hate everything"

"I hate this site, and I've forgotten why
And if it weren't for my eight kids
I'd break down and cry"

"I know I can be great, and try to love again,
But I just can't get over her,
Leavin' cause of them"

Then he shook his head, and looked down at his ring
And said "I hate everything"

** Musical Number **

So he reached for his cell
And he called his flame
He said "Girl, I've been in hell...
We couldn't work this out

He never touched his drink
And he said "but ..... thanks
Thanks for everything ....."

Sure as he** aren't for you
