Renegade,

Just a good Telescope, and a mount can yield some really good pictures of far away places like that. It's pretty incredible at some of those shots I've seen done that way! This is a pretty good shot that Generical took.

The above are all High Dynamic Range images (3 images of different contrasts merged one on top of the other - you just gotta hope nothing in the photo moves between frames...like the women in the bottom photo lol)..oh yeah...and that's 'artistic' lens flare. lol

Talisman,

Thanks! I should be getting a few more flash guns today, or tomorrow and I'll experiament with different types of lighting. Now that I got the "hang" of it for the most part I want to start going into more depth with it.

What kind of camera are ya using since you seem to have your EXIF data since it seems to be stripped. Cause if your using a DSLR, you can set selective focus points to help better focus on objects, or people. =)

I'm not to fan of HDR's, but they aren't bad! I really, really like the 2nd picture! You can see how massive these things are. Romans brilliant designers, or builders I should say. I wish I could go to Italy, and Rome. One of these days! Despite I want go to Japan first for the Castles or Europe. =)

Sweet pics, would love to travel with my cam, going back a few posts am using a 500mm lens for the space pics, which is pretty much a telescope, although there's a few issues with infinity focus possibly. I tried taking pics of the space station going over but couldn't seem to get it focused which is a shame as it goes over surprisingly quick, a minute or less from one horizon to the other.

On another note starting to see some bugs come back to life, sure sign of things warming up, macro time again soon :D

Happy shootings.

- Oh and the exif is intact on those photobucket links Ali, if you're on here before talis.

I use a Canon EOS 40D DSLR with the 18-55mm lens. I tend to forget to use the selective focus and advanced metering settings when taking photos tbh, but yeah they might help me a bit. I always feel very rushed when out taking pics, especially in cities like Rome, so perhaps they don't come out as well as they might otherwise. lol

tbh, I was hoping for more diverse lighting than my HDR images displayed. They're not quite what I was expecting, but maybe landscape shots/sunsets etc would be more suitable.

Talisman,

Yeah, take your time when taking pictures, think it through despite that do some come right away for candid's, but if you want a good well thought out picture when your doing buildings and such. =) Keep in mind that they meter can also fool you too, within the camera! It's all about experience, and I'm still a noobie. Hehe. I'm just likely that I was the only yearbook photographer 13 years ago, so I have the basic's down.

Wife with a little bit of PP, but shot with the new flash guns. I don't recall the exact settings I used, but I believe key light was 1/4 and the fill light was 1/16 give or take a setting. I know there is some black clipping, which I plan to get another trigger to use my other gun for as a hairlight or background. Just depends what I need to do.

This is my new flash guns, just testing them out and sorry for the mess. Got all the stuff out, and then the kid tossed a shirt or two into the mix. =D

Did you see the gypsy girls that stole my glasses/case, thinking it was my wallet back in 1996? Same exact spot. They'd probably be around 27 years old now. :)

lol no, I didn't see any gypsies. These days its just African (illegal) migrants selling bags and purses in the middle of the street and tourists wanting their photographs taken.

Cheers mate, have a fox!

Tainted experience though as he was badly injured, he has his leg up because it seemed broken not because he was mid stride. Totally not how i wanted to see a fox. He seemed relatively normal though, foraging and scratching his flees off him but i dunno how long his leg has been like that and how long he'll live. F*cksake.

I hate that. Too many times, it turns out the reason I'm able to get such a good long look at a wild animal is because they're sick or injured. ::(:

Great shot though.
