I put myself out there and I failed miserably

At the beginning of the week the scale said I weigh 181.the next day I ate pizza and cake and a day later the scale said I weighed 180-179. I ate a thin crust pizza well within
My calorie limit and weighed myself the next day and it said 181.I don't understand how I ate bad and lost a pound one day then ate the same thing and gained it back in one night even though I was in my calorie limit and now I'm back to where I was at the beginning of the week. Why is this?::(:

energy in = energy out (exercise) = maintain weight.

energy in > energy out (exercise) = weight gain.

Did you do any exercise that day?

stop weighing yourself daily. That's my mistake as well. I exercise though but every time i get on the scale i'm heavier or the same weight. It's so discouraging. I just gave up last week.

I know this too, but worrying about every small fluctuation of weight is a nonsense, because it can be caused by water in the body for example. But if you stick to eating less calories the result will show in the end undoubtely. Just don't watch it every day..

It can also be, that what you eat won't show on your weight immediately, but with interval of several days.

Most people forget that muscle weighs more than fat. When you exercise regular you gain muscle and lose fat. This shows as increased weight but decreased inches. Eventualy the fat loss will outdo the muscle gain and weight loss is the result. Then the circle begins again, your body will plato and you will gain a little with muscle and then lose more with fat loss. Don't be disheartened. :D

Ohh... I find that the biggest mistake is obsessing over it and weighting daily.
I weigh once a month - at the doctor's office; because otherwise I'd get upset from weighing myself 6 times a day and seeing no difference. It's enough to make a person physically ill- obsessing over the number.

What is important is feeling better about yourself. Feeling comfortable.

Being depressed or stressed out can prevent you from losing weight completely because your body slows down metabolism- and getting older kind of has the same effect.
The key is a consistent healthy diet and daily exercise, self love = a slow but steady weight loss number.

It's disheartening to be unable to see that number change, so stop focusing on the number and focus on how much more energy you have while you're getting healthy.

one or two days isn't a reliable amount of time to measure the results of a diet change.

Obsessing over figures on the scales? Been there, done that (and still do, but I'm working on it :p).

The weight you put on is probably water weight. Did you eat anything with a high salt content? This can cause water retention.

Anyway, to gain a pound you have to consume 3500 calories more than your body can take (or so I've read after looking it up online). So unless you really ate that much in one day, which I doubt, you have nothing to worry about. The water weight will come off. Give it a few days. It isn't easy, but don't give up!

Get a tape to measure your waist, better than jumping on the scales, and the results can be obeseved more quickly.

I only measure my weight by how clothes fit me, pretty much...

What kind of food do you eat? It's not just about 'calories', it's about finding some interesting food that you actually LIKE to eat and it's healthy!! :)

A pizza or a piece of cake now and then is not such a big deal, if you balance it with healthy stuff - the important thing is the overall picture of eating veggies, fruit, etc.

It can feel frustrating, look at the big picture though!! Like in StarWars: a battle may have been 'lost' (one day or two isn't even really a 'battle', maybe just tiny fragment of a 'battle'!) - and you can still win the 'war'!!

err, not that nutrition is like 'war', it's actually better to compare it to something pleasant... and make sure to fit some other pleasant stuff in your life too!! /ahh hammock!! - wants one!/

as long as you're within the 20-25 BMI range, you shouldn't be judging anything from weight.
