How Tall Are You?

I'm 5'9 and a girl. So I'm on the taller side for girls. I'm a little awkward and gangly about it, tripping or banging my head a lot. It's like I don't realize my height or try and act shorter than I actually am if that makes sense to anyone...
What's worse is all my friends are pretty short. Around 5'1-5'6 so I can feel like a giant, and even though we're all thin I can get self-concious being around such petite girls. Being shy and tall is a kind of weird. Because I'm tall I stand out and get noticed, but I really don't want that attention. For example I went to a birthday party. I got comments from guys like "wow I think you're the tallest girl here. You're so tall!" etc.etc. I'm sure they were being complimentary but I still felt weird.
Question for the guys, would you ever date a girl taller than you? Or is it weird? I would date someone shorter than me, but I don't know if the guy would be comfortable...

Hell yes I would.
Height has never been a factor for me when it comes to attraction or dating. I don't remember any guys I know talking about it, either. On the other hand, I've known many girls who have minimum height requirements for dating guys.
Chances are, I don't have to worry about dating a girl who is taller than me, but if she happened to be, I wouldn't mind.
And yeah, those comments people make about how tall we are... a bit redundant.
I'm 5'6" and my hubby is 5'7", so not very tall and I actually really like it. I can hug him easily, kiss him easily, etc. Sometimes when he's standing on a step I'll give him a hug (around his chest, lol) and tell him I'm glad he's not that tall in real life I think he wants to be taller, but I like him the way he is.

Yes! This is my only gripe with being short... I either have to buy pants that are marked "petite," or roll them up (hmmm... I wonder when the 80's will come back in style :

The petite sections i've seen are usually for 5'3 and under, so i'm stuck in the middle with being 5'4 ... or so i thought! But i have short legs and a long body, so i'm fine with the petite lengths, just not the tops i need them long LOL!

blah.. 5'6ish, which to me is tall for a girl.. it's annoying! i can't buy regular length jeans because i like to wear them long anyway, but then "long" length jeans (35" inseam) are too long.. so i'm like a "regular and a half" haha.. and apparently i have a long torso or either my chest is too big, because i have to be picky and buy longer length shirts so i don't end up pulling it down all the time.. ugh! lol

Which is close enough to average. Sometimes I'm considered tall, but that's mainly because of the shoes I wear.
